Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 5.10.09

Outside My Window…a beautiful morning……66 degrees outside right now, partly sunny skies and a light breeze.  We had rain almost every evening this past week so everything looks so clean and green.  I love this time of year when everything is blooming and green after a winter of naked trees and barren gardens.

I am thinking…about the photos I would like to add to my Flickr photo stream.  I haven’t added any since last week, but I have plenty to add.  Finding the time is the issue……..hmmm, could be something I could do today perhaps.  Check out that site, as well as the blog……..I have been putting this on there each week as well as other random posts.

I am thankful for…the opportunity to celebrate this Mother’s Day with my mom.  I know I’m very lucky to be able to still do so.  I’m also thankful we found Alanna a prom dress yesterday!  Woo Hoo, another crisis averted!

From the kitchen…is a cup of very delicious coffee……….and not much else at the moment.  I have the desire to create something tasty, but can’t decide what I have a taste for.  Maybe I will come up with something later this afternoon.

I am creating…Alanna’s graduation announcements.  We got the design she liked so now it is time to create them, put them together and mail them out.  I have a few other irons on the fire as well, but one will be a gift for my niece so I can’t mention it right now.  I will post a photo on my blog after I give it to her next Friday.

I am going…to breakfast with my daughters and my mother this morning.  Later I may be transplanting some plants, finish cleaning my room and/or playing with my new sewing machine.  Basically, doing what I want to do today!  🙂

I am reading…The Wars of Gods and Men by Zecharia Sitchen.  I’m also still reading through my new bread cookbook.

I am hoping…to finally finish updating pages for my website this week.  I still have a few pages that need updating.  I’m also hoping all the mothers that read this have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

I am hearing…the weather channel, my wind chimes and the ticking of my many clocks……make that only the clocks and wind chimes, I have gotten what I need from the weather channel so ‘click’……..off that goes.  🙂

Around the house…fortunately not as much clutter as this past week, but I still have some of my “stuff” out on the coffee table and some DVD movies scattered about.  I’m trying to rearrange them and make it more accessible when we want to get something out……I don’t think that is possible for some reason.  I seem to do this a lot and have yet to discover a plan that doesn’t require removing sections to get to the one you want to watch.  I think I need to look into one of those storage towers, but problem there is where would I put it?  I know, if this is my biggest problem right now ~ ain’t life grand!  🙂

Plans for the week include…celebrating Cailin’s 15th birthday tomorrow.  Our tradition is I pick her up from school at lunch time, we have lunch together at a place of their choosing, then I take her shopping so she can spend what she wants of her birthday money.  A few years ago I gave the girls the option, cash or party with small gift. They had gotten to the point where they were much older and parties were getting a lot larger…well not in attendance, but the people attending were no longer elementary school age kids.  For those of you who have never been to our house, it is quite small so large parties were creating a bit of a problem for me.  The deal was, they couldn’t have both……..if they wanted a party, they got a gift from me and the party.  But if they passed on the party, I would take them to lunch and then give them what I would have spent on the party plus the gift and they could shop for whatever they wanted.  This was a win/win situation for us both….me because I didn’t have to worry with party plans and such; them because it gave them a little more to shop with.  And bonus, we get to spend the afternoon together.  And afterwards, we go to my mother’s house where she prepares them a dinner of their favorites, we have cake and a small celebration with family.

One of my favorite things…are days when you get to relax and do all the things you want to do and you don’t have to feel guilty about doing it because it is expected…..like today.  🙂

A picture I’d like to share with you….Field of Buttercups.  I took this last weekend when we went to the Family Reunion in Shawboro, North Carolina.  I made my brother-in-law stop in the middle of East Ridge Road so I could snap this shot…well, when we were stopped at other places the fields weren’t quite a nice as this one.
