So it begins again….

Yet another coastal storm is making its way up the mid-Atlantic coast.  I knew when summer ended, our fall and winter season was going to be an active one.  I don’t know how or what made me feel that…maybe the way summer ended, or the way fall began…but I just knew.  I didn’t however realize just how active it would be.   It seems the coastal storms, or nor ‘easters as they are called, have been coming one right after another.  There is still plenty of snow from the last storm, which is melting quickly in the rain tonight.  The ground is thoroughly saturated….I don’t see how it can hold another drop of moisture.  This storm will not leave as much snow in our region as the one last weekend but we do have flood watches.

I took this from inside my Jeep as I was leaving work today.  During the afternoon we experienced snow showers, sleet and rain.  Around the time I was leaving, the snow had stopped and it was beginning to sleet.  I pulled over on the Colonial Parkway and took this photo looking out the passenger window.  We will continue to experience this combination of moisture throughout the night with a possibility of 3 to 4 inches of snow by Saturday evening.   I foresee another weekend spent inside with a fire to warm our bones.
