Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 10.3.10

Outside My Window…is cloudy, wet and cool.  We are currently at 63ºF at 7:00 this evening.  The temperature hasn’t varied too much today from our current temp….there has been light rain falling all day on and off.  This is my definition of typical fall weather.  The trees in my neighborhood are beginning to turn ~ especially the dogwood trees.   Rain is forecast for Monday with it clearing off in the evening.  Our temperatures are going to stay in the mid sixties to seventy degrees during the day and lows in the mid to upper 50’s in the evenings this week.  I’m not complaining…just wish the earlier storm hadn’t revealed the roof leak again.  I could enjoy the rain more if I wasn’t worried about that.  By the way, a revised total on the rainfall we received from that bizarre weather system Thursday was 10 1/2 inches.  I can honestly say, I don’t think I have ever seen a weather system like the one we experienced….I heard one forecaster say it was as if someone turned a fire hose on and pointed it up the coast.  Watching the weather channel radar was surreal….just a solid wall of rain all day long.

I am thinking…my head is going to explode if I have to listen to any more commercials about erectile dysfunction.  I understand to some people this may be a major concern but do we really need so many commercials all about it?   And what is up with sitting in the bathtubs in the middle of nowhere?  And while I’m at it….can someone explain what is up with all the advertisements for different types of prescription drugs?  Seriously, what doctor is going to write a prescription because someone said they saw it advertised on television and they think it will help them….isn’t that the doctor’s call?  Isn’t he/she the one who decides what type of medication would work best for you?  I think the drug commercials now out number all the other commercials combined.  I think I need to turn the television off for a while.

From my kitchen…was a pot of pinto beans and cornbread for dinner this evening.  I wanted to make the beans so I would have some leftovers to make chili with later this week.  I love this time of year and the food that goes along with it ~ stews, soups and chili.  I know you can eat that during the summer, but they fit better with cooler weather I think.

I am creating…my handbag camera bag.  As I said in the post yesterday….progress has been temporarily stalled but will hopefully be back on track tomorrow after I pick up some more Velcro.  I do have everything cut and ready to sew….I need the Velcro before I can continue though.

I am going…to finish up this post, do the dishes and probably head to bed early tonight.  I have been going to bed early and sleeping in a little later than normal.   I can’t figure out why I’m so tired lately but I must need the rest so I’m taking it when I can get it.

I am hoping…that Cailin does well in her “behind the wheel” course this coming week.  She has done pretty good with her driving….there are still hair raising moments for me, but not because she is a bad driver but because I don’t have control of the vehicle which can leave me feeling kind of helpless thus causing anxiety.  Seven days from tomorrow, she will be legal to drive by herself.  Next on the agenda, she wants to get a car with the money she has saved.  Sigh…..doesn’t seem that long ago she was just learning to ride a bike.

I am hearing…a program my daughter is watching on television…..the washer rinsing and spinning her clothes….the ticking of my many clocks.

Around the house…my laundry folded and put away ~ my youngest is still working on hers…..dinner dishes to wash…..a nice comfy bed with clean sheets calling my name.

Plans for the week include…listening to the excited tales I’m sure Cailin will be telling after her behind the wheel classes….hopefully completing the handbag camera case….getting together what I want to do for Christmas gifts this year.  I have a few ideas but I need to get my thoughts together so I can create a list of what I will need to purchase or do.

A picture I’d like to share with you…a photograph of my beautiful cousin and one of her lovely daughters.  My youngest and I joined them for dinner Monday evening and had the best time talking and laughing. I only wish we could have spent more time with them.  I told her a visit to see her and the English countryside is definitely on my bucket list.
