Disappointment and Discovery
I went to the boat dock area this evening to capture a sunset.
I was disappointed.
My captures aren’t what I thought they would be.
But I did like this image of the river grass.
I’m pretty sure my coolest bird shot to date is a Northern Mockingbird.
I checked my Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America.
It all fits….the wing coloring and pattern, white feathers on the outside of the tail.
And the song.
I know field guide for birds may not be the coolest thing I can admit to reading….
…but now you know what a Northern Mockingbird looks like. 🙂

Excellent shots. I love the colors in the river grass picture. We have many mockingbirds in and around our backyard. They build nests in our bushes every year. Both mom and dad protect the eggs and feed the hatchlings. I am going to miss not seeing them when I move.

Thanks Liz! I have never noticed the mockingbirds around here before. I’m glad they have decided to take up residence here. 🙂
