Outside My Window ~ 5.8.11
Outside My Window…right now, at 6:31 p.m, we have mostly sunny skies and 66°F. Our forecast today was for occasional rain showers and a high of 71°F. The chance for rain was less than 50% and it appears we had that very early this morning. The wind is light…branches are gently swaying in the breeze now and then…but it is not enough to cause my wind chimes to sing to me. Our temperatures will hover in the mid to low 70 range all this week. This is typical weather in my area for this time of year. It generally cools off and stays this way around Mother’s Day and a few days following.
I am glad…I was able to go to breakfast this morning with my mother, daughter, sister and her husband….but disappointed I didn’t get to eat. We went to a very crowded, and perhaps understaffed, Cracker Barrel this morning. The kitchen was swamped….our food orders were messed up…and not only did I not receive my full order, what food did come out wasn’t prepared as requested. By the time all was said and done, the others were finished eating and my replacement meal still had not arrived. I asked them to remove my meal from the check ~ which they did along with several other items as a goodwill gesture. I came home and prepared a sandwich to hold me over until this evening when my daughter took me out to dinner. 🙂
From my kitchen…was just a sandwich today since I went out for both breakfast and dinner. I have a few recipes I will be including in the coming weeks…some I had forgotten about and re-discovered while cleaning up my hard drive this weekend.
I am currently working on…photo editing mostly. I have been taking quite a few photographs lately and working on keeping up with editing. I have a few more vacation photographs to share. If you haven’t seen the ones I have featured so far, check them out here and here.
I am going to…get to bed early this evening and hopefully every night this week. With the exception of Wednesday, I have a full week of work ahead of me and I don’t need to be wading through all that paperwork while yawning.
I am currently reading…well, pretty sure it can’t be classified as reading….but I am going through the many files on my hard drive and my external hard drive. I was looking for something Saturday morning and after checking here and there I decided I had had enough. There are too many files on these two hard drives…too many files with no organization so when I do look for something, it takes far longer than it should. I spent a good part of the day yesterday organizing, sorting and deleting some files and I’m only about a fourth of the way through. This is the result of not staying on top of it all along. I did pretty well when I first got the computer and then I got lazy about it. Now I have a fairly big mess that is going to take longer than it would have if only I had just stayed on top of it. Sigh. 😐
I am hearing…the dryer tumbling my clothes dry…Criminal Minds on television…the sound of my fingers dancing across the keyboard as I type…the ticking of my many clocks.
Plans for the week include…working from home on Wednesday morning…celebrating my youngest daughter’s 17th birthday Wednesday afternoon…finally getting all of my seeds in the ground.
One of life’s little pleasures is…spending time with loved ones…remembering the babies who have now grown into amazing young women.
From my camera…guess who will be a mother herself one day very soon ~ mama duck of course, she looks like she is ready to pop! 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day!

One thing that was stress to me when in tupperware and also management training school was:
HARD WORK IS SIMPLY AN ACCULATION OF EASY THINGS I DID NOT DO WHEN I SHOULD HAVE DONE THEM.

I have found this to be so true so often. Uncle Allen who I admire for being so organize has told me to work on my disorganization and (oh what a junk room I have) at least 15 minutes a day. He said it will get done a lot faster that way than waiting until you have the time to do it. He also said finish every day today before you go to bed so that more does not accumulate. Such good advice. I am not ready for the hoarders show yet but one room has a good start on it. I said after it took me a year to clean out mom’s house I would never let my house get that bad. Check out Jim Spencers photos as you have time. He post often.

That is good advice….and it makes sense! Thanks Wanda…and good luck with your junk room! 🙂

I often think about “Tidying” the files on my computer and it seems the longer I put it off the bigger a job it is becoming!

I know…my files are so disorganized it seems like it will take forever to organize. I thought I had been keeping them in some kind of order until I started going through them the other day looking for an old photograph. I realized after about a half hour of searching that they were a mess and it was going to take a long time to get it together. 🙂
