Outside My Window ~ 4.8.2012
Outside my window…is the closing hours for Easter. Doesn’t seem possible…Easter….April…already. Where have the days gone this year? I try to avoid wishing time away {I wish it was summer…I wish it was cooler}…it goes much too quickly all by itself. Right now {9:15 p.m.} it is 57°F with calm winds and relatively low humidity. So low in fact we are under a “fire danger” tomorrow due to low humidity and wind. Our low tonight will dip down to 45°F. Tomorrow the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 73°F…a low of only 50°F. The rest of the week won’t be as warm with a forecast high of only 59°F for Wednesday with showers. It isn’t time to put away the warmer clothing yet….still can get a little chilly. I will be off tomorrow so I hope to get out and enjoy some of the sunshine.
I am thinking…about how much I enjoyed myself at Papa and Nina’s house this past week. I can’t remember the last time I relaxed and got that much rest during a vacation. The week I spent with them was fabulous. Nope, we didn’t go here and we didn’t go there, we just stayed close to home….and relaxed. As I said, it was fabulous! Thank you Papa and Nina for another wonderful vacation….can’t wait until next time. 🙂
From my kitchen…was not much today. My mother prepared a tasty feast for Easter dinner so my kitchen was quiet. I just arrived home late yesterday evening so I didn’t have time to prepare something to contribute but there was plenty to fill our bellies.
I am glad…I stepped out of my comfort zone once again and attended Sal Cincotta’s photography seminar, The Senior Project, in Charlotte, North Carolina this past Wednesday while at my parents house. It was the only thing I was scheduled to do while on vacation and I was a little hesitant about going. I truly believe I probably would have opted out if I had not already paid my registration fee. But one of my personal goals this year is to step outside my comfort zone more often ~ like I did when I submitted my photo for critique. At the end of the evening, I was happy I did attend. So much information….good information…an animated speaker who was also a photographer sharing his tips and tricks with the class of approximately 30 fellow photographers. I will be busy the balance of this month putting what I learned to work. I’m excited about the prospect! 🙂
I am going…to hopefully get quite a bit accomplished tomorrow on my last day off before returning to work. Yes, I’m back from vacation but I don’t have to go back to total reality just yet. That slap in the face won’t come until Tuesday morning.
I am hearing…a fairly quiet house….the ticking of my many clocks….the faraway sound of a train whistle.
A recap of last week…the April desktop calendar’s were published this past week, in case you missed them. There are three this month, the first two can be found on this post and the third can be found on this post. The third calendar is one of the gecko’s that you frequently see skittering about at my parents house in South Carolina. This was the first time I have been fortunate enough to capture him right after his little push up maneuver when he puffs out his bright red pouch. Download and installation instructions are provided so click on over and get your copy. Wordless Wednesday was my photograph of two baby Carolina wrens in their nest in the eaves of my parents gazebo. Finishing off with my new best friend and a little project I’m working on…and while on that subject, I want to thank Nina for her patience while she helped me remember things I had forgotten with crocheting. 🙂
Plans for the week include…back to work on Tuesday….working on what I learned at the seminar….preparing for a photo shoot later this month with a sweet little three month old…and perhaps finalizing a couple of announcement designs with the clients this week as well. We are on the same page now it is a matter of selecting the photographs they would like to include. I will showcase them at a later time….I don’t want to share them until they have had a chance to do so.
One of life’s little pleasures…spending time with loved ones…those that are near, and those that are far.
From my camera…here there be dragons….
