Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 4.15.2012

Outside my window…is dark and fairly late.  It is about 10:40 in the evening after a very warm day today.  Currently we are at 73°F with a forecast low of 63°F.  Tomorrow is going to feel like August with a high of 86°F…yes, 86°F!  Sunshine and wind will accompany those extremely high temperatures.  I wonder if that will set a record….seems awful warm for the middle of April.  Tuesday has a forecast of 80°F with sunshine. Our high this time of year is typically around 68°F.  I’m not so excited about weather this warm this early.  Fortunately it will dip back down into the 60’s on Wednesday with a chance of rain.

I am thinking…about how much more time I’m going to have to spend to get my files cleaned up.  Three full hard drives…one internal and two external….over 1200 gigs….very close to full.  Uncomfortably close to full…so much so that I haven’t downloaded any new images since I discovered just how full they were.  I have been able to free up some space but there needs to be more work done.  One thing I discovered….I must have had an attack of intense panic one day because I have discovered multiple copies…and I mean multiple…of some files.  I’m still trying to figure out why I thought I needed that many copies.  Actually what I think happened is I was backing up the original hard drive and knew some of the files were on the external, I was just lazy that day and didn’t feel like going through them.  A few lazy days is turning into more work than it would have been at the time and I’m muttering to myself about how annoying this all is.  The bright spot in all of this….a valuable lesson has been learned.  A few minutes spent on housekeeping each time I back up will save me tons of time in the long run.

From my kitchen…I had a busy weekend.  Much of my day Saturday was spent blanching and flash freezing some vegetables I had picked up at Costco earlier in the week ~ green beans, asparagus and broccoli.  It occupied most of my day but I will benefit from all the  time and work later on.  Tonight I prepared a new recipe that I will share with you next week.  I didn’t have enough time to create the recipe and get it posted for you this evening.

I am glad…that I tried a new vendor and ordered a gallery wrap canvas earlier this month.  It was delivered the beginning of this past week and I suddenly understood why people love them.  I have heard other photographers go on and on about them and didn’t quite get it…I do now.  It is beautiful…and I want more!  🙂  I will share a photograph of it this coming week…it is one of those on the camera that I haven’t been able to download yet.

I am going…to be working on my hard drives until I get them better organized and not quite as full.  I’m thinking it may make life easier when I’m looking for something too.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….my oldest daughter tapping on their computer….an otherwise quiet house.

A recap of last week…is short and sweet ~ I’m not going  to bore you with hard drive problems {I already did that tonight 😐 } .  Monday featured an image of a Carolina Wren at my parents house….the first step on my quest to become a certified professional photographer….and waiting for flowers.

Plans for the week include…continuing my work on my senior project for the business…..working from home on Thursday….a dentist appointment Thursday afternoon….an appointment to discuss a possible senior photo shoot later this month.

One of life’s little pleasures…sleeping in later than normal on the weekends.

From my camera…because I haven’t been able to work on anything new this week…this is a photograph I took a few weeks ago….a self portrait.  This is me…..
