Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 9.30.2012

Outside my window…is a beautiful fall morning.  Right now at 10:45 this morning, we are 67°F with sunshine and blue skies.  The humidity is a bit high at 61% but it is tolerable because the temperature is at a decent level.  Our forecast high today is 73°F with light winds and a very low probability of rain…you couldn’t ask for a better day.  Tomorrow will be much like today with a greater chance of afternoon showers.  Tuesday  will be warmer with a high chance of thunderstorms.  The temperature for the rest of the week will be much warmer until a weekend cool down.  I don’t know about anyone else but I’m ready for these cooler temperatures…chilly mornings and nights, mild days….yes, so very ready for this.

I am thinking…that I can’t believe it has been 13 days since I last posted anything….13.  It doesn’t seem like it has been that long but it has. I haven’t been up to it….I have thought about it several times, but just wasn’t up to it. What started out as perceived allergy symptoms blew up into a flu like illness a week ago Saturday.  It was odd really…I wasn’t feeling all that well all week and woke up feeling pretty good on the 21st, that is until I got to work and proceeded to sneeze all day long.  I attributed that to the fact that they were probably cleaning the air ducts and allergies {rag weed has gone wild lately and it is one of my foes during allergy season}.  By the time I was ready to leave work on Friday, I was pretty sure my earlier assumption was wrong.  Saturday morning confirmed my suspicions and I spent the rest of the weekend almost entirely in bed with headaches, sneezing, coughing, congestion, sore throat and body aches….I was miserable.  It was a little better by Monday morning so I managed to go into work, albeit later in the morning and working from home on Tuesday was an added help.  I’m feeling more like myself this weekend although there is still some cough, sore throat and congestion hanging around.  Lovely way to start out the season I thought….in bed and sick.  I’m hoping I will get this out of the way and it will be the only time I’m down with an illness during the fall and winter months.

I am glad…I decided to go ahead and upgrade my cell phone since my service anniversary had arrived and you couldn’t beat the price tag ~ free!  😀   I now have a new iPhone ~ version 4 though, not the newer one everyone is lusting after.  Mine doesn’t even talk to me…..I have a thing about my electronic devices telling me what to do I suppose…the whole rise of the machine thing I suppose.  🙂    Granted it is not the best of the best, but it is perfect for me.  The girls also opted to upgrade but got Suri with their phones….and while their price tag wasn’t free, they did get a fabulous discount.  We share our service because it ends up being cheaper for all of us, especially since I get an additional discount because I’m a college employee.  This weekend has been spent trying to learn my new phone….and trying to learn to take photographs with something that doesn’t weigh three pounds….not to mention I need to get use to the lower quality imaging.  No worries that it will never replace my big girl camera.

I am going…to be doing everything this weekend that I didn’t get to do last weekend….and then some.  Of course when mom gets sick, nothing gets done.  Oh, not like that in your house ~ then you are definitely a fortunate one!!  🙂  I started the task yesterday but there is more to complete today….clutter is driving me crazy.  It has given birth to itself and is taking over the homestead….it must go.  I also really need to get some soap made so it will have time to cure before I run out of my supply. I’m not sure if that will happen today but it must happen sometime this week.

From my kitchen…are several new recipes I’m anxious to share with you however I haven’t gotten the photographs together or the recipe typed up for posting.  Yes, I’m seriously behind on many things after being sidelined for almost two weeks.

I’m currently working on…the final touches for the new business plan {I know I said Labor Day but guess what, it didn’t happen that fast! :)} …. de-cluttering my life as best I can …. catching up on the mountain of paperwork at work {where did it all come from all of a sudden?}.

I am hoping…that feeling better this weekend is an indication of the end of the illness.  The lingering effects are annoying and they still give me pause.  I absolutely can’t stand it when I’m sick…I hate being stuck in bed….I hate feeling so badly when I know the rest of the entire world is feeling good.  And yes, I do realize that isn’t the case and the thought is unrealistic…..but when I’m sick it is the absolute truth.

I am hearing…the dog snoring like an old man on the couch….my wind chimes lightly singing to me….an annoying humming sound from outside {I think it is the neighbor that has been power washing his entire yard all weekend ~ I don’t know how he could possibly have anything left to power wash!!}….blue jays talking back and forth to each other….the ticking of my many clocks.

A recap of last week…actually it is a recap of the week before since I didn’t post anything on here last week ~ my mother’s birthday post.  Doesn’t she look fabulous!  🙂

Plans for the week include…work….work….more work. I’m going to post the free desktop calendar for October tomorrow so be sure to check back.  Working from home on Tuesday.  In other words, wide open ~ no real plans for the week.  🙂

One of life’s little pleasures…that part of our daily walk which takes Turbo and I down a path through a wooded area.  Turbo sees himself as a great squirrel hunter ~ and if he wasn’t on a leash attached to my arm, he may very well be.  It is funny to watch him creep up on them only for me to step on some very crunchy acorns which alerts them to our presence.  The look he gives me is priceless…an exasperated look like he is saying “you are the noisiest human ever!”.  It makes me laugh.  Every. Single. Time.

From my camera…a discovery a couple of weeks ago when I was in my backyard.  I thought the lack of rain last year had killed these begonias that came from a cutting from what was once begonias my grandmother grew in her yard.  I was so happy to discover that they were in fact alive and flowering!  Proof is in the photograph….both have been treated with textures from Shadowhouse Creations Scratch the Surface Texture Set …..
