Outside My Window ~ 11.4.2012
Outside my window…is another cloudy Sunday. Fortunately there is no rain in the forecast however we are expecting another nor’easter to develop off the North Carolina coast this coming week. It is not expected to be near the strength Sandy was but it will be enough of a nuisance with the cold winds and rain…rain we really don’t need at this point. There are areas that are still quite saturated from the storm last week. At 8:00 this evening we are currently at 39°F with calm winds. We are basically at our forecast low for the night. I probably should have brought some of my plants back into the house this evening….hoping it doesn’t get too cold for them tonight. Our high today was 52°F with cloudy skies so it actually felt much cooler than that…to me at least. The rest of the week will be pretty much the same temperature wise, sunshine with the exception of Wednesday and Thursday when the nor’easter is expected to pass through. The temperature on Wednesday is forecast to be 49°F…which highlights the difference between a hurricane and a nor’easter. The latter brings with it cold winds and rain and can be far more miserable to deal with in the aftermath than the hot and humid temperatures you endure after a hurricane. I know how much the people in the Northeast are dreading the news of yet another storm moving that way this week. Personally I don’t think their coastline can take much more pounding not to mention more rain and cold.
I am thinking…we had a lot more kids come by our house this year for trick or treating. Generally there are not too many because a lot of houses on my street don’t participate ~ the rule is if there is a porch light on, they are participating. Many houses are dark on my street with the exception of a few around my house…but we are kind of in the center of the block so the kids don’t generally make the trek for just a few houses. Guess it was worth it to the ones that did come. I only had a small amount of candy and had to resort to giving out some granola bars I had on hand. After the first group came by and got the bars and a span of time went by without any more visitors my youngest decided the word had gotten out ~ don’t go to that house, they are giving out stuff that is good for you. 🙂 We actually had a few more after that so maybe not.
I am glad…that honey crisp apples are back! If you have never tried a honey crisp, you must if you like your apples sweet, crisp and delicious. As far as I’m concerned, they are they best of any apple out there. I’m also glad the storm didn’t take all the leaves….the winds weren’t as fierce as they first had anticipated. I’m still hopeful I can get some nice fall foliage this year.
I am going…to finish this up hopefully before 9:00 so I can watch the new episode of The Walking Dead. If not, I will be taking a break…so far the season has been fabulous. I’m ready for the next episode right after one goes off. 🙂
From my kitchen…was a light weekend as far as cooking. I did make some bread but other than that it was very light. I plan on making some cold weather comfort foods in the coming week.
I am currently working on…editing photographs and making plans for Christmas. I’m still shaking my head at how fast this year has gone by….is it really November already??
I am hoping…my dad has a fabulous birthday tomorrow! He deserves it! 🙂
I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….the house creaking a bit ~ like me the house is getting older….a commercial on television.
A recap of last week…was my Halloween composite ~ I always enjoy working on composites and want to do more, but not necessarily the same theme….and there were two different posts for calendars this month….this one and this one. Three posts in one week….a slight improvement. 🙂
Plans for the week include…working from home on Tuesday but taking off a little early for a dentist appointment….and that is about it as far as plans go actually.
One of life’s little pleasures…is having all the evening chores finished so I can sit and watch my television program without feeling guilty.
From my camera…some iphone-ie photos from my walks this weekend….
