Outside My Window ~ 1.20.2013
Outside my window…is the closing hour of another weekend. Currently at 11:00 in the evening it is 46°F with clear skies. We have had relatively clear skies since the Thursday evening snowfall…which was after 7 days of fog and rain. To say the ground is still completely saturated is an understatement…..walking on the grass is like walking on a thoroughly soaked sponge, including the squish, squish, squish. We have had relatively mild temperatures since then however there is still plenty of snow on many of the roofs around the neighborhood however I think all the snow on the ground melted today. Our snowfall wasn’t all that much….it was maybe a couple of inches but very, very wet. After raining all day it began to snow a couple of hours after dark…opening the car doors and scrapping the cars off the next morning was a chore. It was a bit slippery as well…I managed to slip and wrench my back but fortunately there are no lasting effects except for some stiffness that I need to stretch out several times a day. Our high today was around 62°F, tomorrows forecast high is 52°F….Tuesday ~ 32°F. Freezing will be our forecast high and 19°F will be the low that evening. Brrrrr…..I see a fire in my forecast.
I am thinking…I need to either get completely sick or whatever it is that is dragging me down and making me feel poorly needs to go away. It is like I’m stuck in limbo….I don’t feel horrible but I don’t feel well either. I have a tightness in my chest…headaches….sneezing…and what sometimes feels like a fever on and off. I haven’t actually taken my temperature when I feel that way so I can’t be sure it is a fever but hot and then very cold is annoying in itself. Friday I slept almost the entire day and night…Saturday maybe four or five hours….today I slept a few hours and wouldn’t need anyone to rock me to sleep right now but I’m determined to finish this up before I give in.
I am glad…that my mother’s hip replacement surgery went well for her and she seems to be recovering nicely. She was able to go home the day after her surgery after she completed several tasks the physical therapists deemed necessary. The hospitals certainly don’t keep you lounging in bed very long any more. I’m extremely glad my niece was able to spend the weekend with her considering I have been under the weather. Bonus points ~ she studies physical therapy at ODU and has worked with their football team for the past two seasons. I don’t think my mom could be in more capable hands right now. 🙂
From my kitchen…is a recipe for bread machine banana bread that I promised earlier. It was quite tasty. I also have instructions for making your own butter however I ran out of time this evening and won’t be able to include that {sorry Nadine!}. I will post that tomorrow.
I am hoping…that whatever it is that is getting me down runs its course sooner rather than later.
I am hearing…the ticking of my clocks….an episode of Monk on the television….Turbo snoring on the couch.
A recap of last week…includes Monday Macro….Tuesday found us all saying goodbye to our girls….Wordless Wednesday found me dreaming of blue skies and not so gray skies…..Thursday was an archive photo of snow in anticipation of the storm….Friday Flashback took me back to Texas and an unusual cloud formations….and Saturday was an image I took that morning.
Plans for the week include…off work tomorrow for MLK holiday….work from home on Tuesday….and the way I’m feeling right now, I’m not thinking that far ahead.
One of life’s little pleasures…enjoying the snores of a little dog that stole my heart. 🙂
From my camera…wishing for some banana bread right now….
