Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 6.30.2013

outside my window summer 2013 Outside my window…is a very dull day….gray, cloudy, hot, humid.  It is around 2:00 and we are at 82°F, it feels like 87°F when you factor in the 74% humidity ~ yes, it is just a tad humid.  There is a slight breeze that is moving the air around so it isn’t quite as suffocating as it could be.  We have been hot and humid for quite a few days….and rain every day for several days ~ not constant, just showers here and there, hit and miss thunderstorms with brief downpours.  Our forecast today is calling for a high of 85°F, humid with a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms.  Tomorrow looks like it will be a carbon copy of today, Tuesday rain, Wednesday will see the beginning of a temperature rise with it topping 91°F on Friday and Saturday, 92°F on Sunday.  Hit and miss thunderstorms continue for Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday but Friday and Saturday look rain free….not too shabby for a holiday weekend.

I am thinking…how sad it is that I have already wished for colder weather.  Five days in to the official summer season and I was wishing for colder weather.  I knew that day was coming ~ it always does ~ I just thought it would be a little later in the summer.  I can’t {or don’t want to} tolerate the summer heat and humidity like I once did.  I’m sure the miserable humidity we have been experiencing has contributed to this wish.  I may not feel the same way if I were in a dryer climate.  Once upon a time I could not wait for summer but now I find myself looking forward to the Fall and Spring seasons more.

Did you know…that as of July 15th of this year you will be able to order select prints directly from my website?  I am also shaking up things a bit and will be sharing those changes very soon as well.  Stayed tuned….  🙂

I am glad…I decided to give this shower cleaning recipe a try because it worked…very well I may add!  Some of you may have seen it on Facebook but for those folks that didn’t, it is very easy to make and use.  You will need 1/2 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup of blue Dawn dish-washing liquid, a spray bottle to apply mixture.  Heat the vinegar for 90 seconds and pour in to spray bottle, add Dawn and shake gently.  Spray shower and let sit for approximately one hour.  Wipe down with a wet rag and rinse.  That is it….and it worked very well.  The vinegar is a bit strong after you heat it up, but it was still better than some of the manufactured cleaners I have used.  It specifically stated blue Dawn….I used Dawn and it was blue, the New Zealand scent, but it wasn’t the original blue Dawn.  It worked very well all the same.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….the 1963 Jason and the Argonauts movie on television ~ special effects by Ray Harryhausen of course….it is written this was one of his favorite films.  🙂

Plans for the week include…beginning the new fiscal year at work tomorrow so I will be busy…work from home on Tuesday….off on the 4th and the 5th…a birthday celebration for my sister on Saturday the 6th….and of course, The Walking Dead marathon beginning on the 4th ~ my viewing fix until the new season begins in October.

One of life’s little pleasures…a bandanna soaked in cold water and tied around your neck when you go outside for dog walks.  On a really hot day, you add a few ice cubes to the wrap for extra cooling power.

From my camera…a few shots I took on the first Sunday in May this year.  I went with my mother to her family reunion in Shawboro, North Carolina.  Since I was a passenger I was able to take some shots I normally can’t.  The first one is the coal yards in Newport News and was taken as we were about to enter the Monitor Merrimac Tunnel ~ you can see they are spraying down the coal to control the dust….
