Outside My Window ~ 7.28.2013
Outside my window…is a cloudy and humid morning. Currently it is noon and we have a temperature of 81°F but feels like 86°F with the 75% humidity factored in. Yes, it is humid but not beyond miserable because the temperature is manageable. We have enjoyed some beautiful weather the past few days with blue skies, moderate temperatures and lower humidity. I think today is the first day the humidity has been this high in some time. I’m not fool enough to believe that cooler temperatures are going to be the norm for the rest of the summer….traditionally August is a hot month….but I did read on one of my weather geek sites that areas north of the Virginia/North Carolina border will not see any more 100°F plus days for the remainder of the summer and we will be lucky to go over 95°F. Once again, I’m longing for cooler temperatures as the season wears on. I did hear that this winter is suppose to be an especially cold one so I’m sure I will be wishing for warmer temperatures soon enough. 🙂 Our forecast high for today is 85°F and that seems to be the norm for the next five days. Today and again on Thursday we have a 50% chance for rain but the rest of the week in between has a relatively low chance each day. To date, we have received approximately 26 inches of rain with our last measurable rainfall on July 25th. We have almost 6 inches so far this month.
I am thinking…that I need to step back and gather all these thoughts into cohesive unit. The ideas…the plans…the desire….not so much the finances for everything that is there, but it is all doable if I can get it all organized. One of my problems is I have too many irons in the fire and I am not effectively managing my time to handle them all. When that happens, rather than sort it out, I walk away from it for a bit. I need to stop doing that and jump in with both feet, work on putting it all together as it should be. So my new plan is to work on organization both in my head and my time.
Did you know…that you still can not order from my site yet? 😐 I have to laugh because otherwise I would scream. It isn’t as serious as all that…but it is my fault it has been so frustrating. I researched to be sure it was something that would work for me, and it is….it is perfect….however the one thing I didn’t thoroughly research is thing giving me trouble…the set up. That has proven to be a bit more complicted than I initially thought it would be…let’s just say don’t always trust the video demonstrations. This was one of those irons I had to step back from because frustration was not allowing me to see what I needed to do. I think I’m back on track now but it will be a bit longer before I am ready to unveil. I need to do a little more testing but it was encouraging to hear from several people that launch dates rarely go off as planned.
From my kitchen…is a few recipes I’m working on but still need to tweak a little bit. One of them is the turkey sausage recipe I posted some time ago….not bad but I thought it was rather blah as far as sausage goes. I was talking with a good friend of mine recently and he mentioned when he prepares sausage recipes he always doubles whatever is called for when it come to spices. I thought hmmmm, this might help that recipe so gave it a try this weekend. Better but it still needs something….however I can’t figure out what that something is at the moment. I won’t be making any again for a little while….I need to eat what I made yesterday. For now, I have been enjoying the dark red cherries that are available and of course the summer staple, watermelon.
I am glad…the heat has loosened its grip on our area for the time being. It was beyond miserable for a stretch not so long ago. Where once upon a time I was solely a summer girl, the wheel has turned and I find myself enjoying the spring and fall much more. I’m ready for cooler temperatures so I can enjoy my coffee on a cool morning or indulge in some winter comfort foods.
I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….Harry Potter marathon on television….an otherwise quiet house.
Plans for the week include…working from home on Tuesday….lunch with my big girl to celebrate her 22nd birthday on Thursday…two days off on Thursday and Friday just for me.
One of life’s little pleasures…is fresh, sweet watermelon after a long, hot walk. Nothing tastes better.
From my camera…is the new logo I designed and a sunset from last week.
