    Wednesday Updates

Sunflower Update The Lemon Queen sunflower seeds are growing like weeds.  While it is difficult to tell from this photo, they are maybe 4 inches tall and doing well.  I haven’t been able to get a decent ground level image.  Sadly, I don’t have a good progress report on the Chocolate sunflower seeds.  There is what appears to be some activity in the area they were planted, but I can’t be sure yet.  Kaniki Kaniki, Guardian of the Garden, was having a difficult time seeing….and he was feeling a bit claustrophobic.  I could hear his heavy sighs each time I walked out in the backyard so I decided to move him to a new home…

    Quiet Time

An issue with PSE this evening has left me frustrated and annoyed ~ so rather than rant and rave, I will leave you with a pretty image.  I can now go have some quiet time as I breathe deeply to release these frustrations, and you don’t have to listen to the rantings of an annoyed woman….a win/win situation for us both.  Things will look better tomorrow…..right?  😐

    It was kind of funny….

If you have been visiting me for a while, you know this young man is my oldest daughter’s boyfriend.  He is a good kid….good to her and to me.  But he also has to watch out for me now.  A little back story before I continue……today we were going shopping at a larger mall than our own in another city fairly close by.  The mall that is closest to our house doesn’t have a couple of the stores my daughter likes to shop at so we planned this trip.  Included in our adventure was my younger sister, who was dropped at my house a little while before our departure.  The cast of characters…

    Over Half Full

I can’t believe it…..we had a thunderstorm come through our area earlier this evening.  It rained for a little bit and my rain barrel is over half full! We are talking probably 28 gallons of water folks!!   I have heard the stories, I have read all about it….yet I’m still amazed at how much water came off my roof during that short rain storm.   I’m loving this already!   I’m not so fond of the ugly gray and probably should have painted it before I set it up….but I can live with that for the time being because well….. OVER HALF FULL!   🙂

    She’s Sweet 16

My baby….my little peanut head….turned 16 today.   Sweet baby Cailin came into the world in the afternoon, a result of a scheduled C-section.  I was once again over due and the doctor once again suggested inducing labor.  I was not so fond of that idea because as my grandmother told me after my first baby was born via C-section after a failed induction, I was old and my bones did not want to move.  She meant it with all love and kindness although it did sound funny when she said it.  The surgery was a breeze, Cailin squalled like a much larger baby as I watched them work over her…

Please allow me to introduce myself….

My name is Debbie and I am a chicken little when it comes to critters and creatures.   Many of you who have been visiting for awhile know I love to photograph sunsets….sunrises too but I don’t get the opportunity to shoot those that often, so I mostly have sunsets.  One of my favorite locations for sunsets is the boat docks close to my mother’s house.  Actually, a few small piers and the ability to put a boat in the water….but it is called the boat docks. You remember my post earlier about spring gnats…..and my extreme dislike for them.  Well, my earlier encounter with them was nothing compared to Thursday night.  They swarmed over me as…

    New Bird Bath?

The birds have decided the new fountain makes an excellent bird bath.  Maybe because it is something different?  Maybe it is the bubbly water on top….a birdy bidet?  It is actually a puzzler…I fill the bird bath with fresh water each day ~ I have to because I must have some really dirty birds, the water is filthy each afternoon.  I refill the fountain with fresh water.  I come inside and wait ~ here come the birds….straight to the fountain.  I think the word has gotten around….they are all anxious to check out the cool bubbly water bird bath ~ cleans up their bottoms just right.  🙂

    Nashville

I had heard about the rain and flooding in Nashville this past weekend…..neighborhoods under water, lives lost.  I have seen the same aerial views on television over and over ~ tragedy has struck again.  Today I had the opportunity to see it through the eyes of a photographer that lives in Nashville ~ a more personal view if you will.  Michael Deppisch originally set out to document the event the best way he knew how….but instead of still images, he created a video.  His story about this video can be found here.

    Chocolate and Rambling Thoughts

I got a great surprise in the mail today when I got home from work.  One of my oldest and dearest friends in Colorado (Hello Carole!) sent me some chocolate sunflower seeds to grow.  Yes, you read and saw that correctly ~ chocolate sunflower seeds for planting and growing chocolate sunflowers.  I can’t wait to see these flowers!!  I wonder if they will have a chocolate taste?  Will the birds go from eating the regular sunflower seeds to these and feel like they are getting dessert?  If I succeed in growing these, photos will most definitely follow.  Thanks again Carole ~ I’m so happy you thought of me!  🙂 I read an…
