    Thursday Thoughts

{Zinnia ~ before Hurricane Irene took them away} ~ Summer is officially over tomorrow….another one has come and gone…they seem to come and go much quicker as I have grown older….however I’m ready for fall. ~ My daughter’s car has been repaired and is back on the road again…happily the repairs were reasonable….as reasonable as car repairs can be I suppose. ~ Dinner at my mother’s house tonight was excellent…pork roast, boiled potatoes with baby limas….I ate to much. ~ We are in a heavy rain pattern for the next four days…currently under a flash flood watch until midnight Saturday….our forecast is for 4 or more inches of rain….the ground…

    September Sunrise

Sometimes it is worth getting up at the crack o’dawn for work. I took this photograph one morning with my point and shoot camera. I usually post images of things that made me smile this week on Saturdays…. I can’t think about that now ~ my mind is full of car repair issues. My brain is on overload thinking about all the possibilities….

    Storm of a lifetime?

We experienced a thunderstorm last night…a nice saturating rain.  This was not from Hurricane Irene…this was because of a front that was moving east but stalled west of us.  This is the front that is going to steer Hurricane Irene right up the coast to New England…giving us all an extremely soggy and windy hug all the way up.  Trust me, no one is particularly excited at the thought…nervous is a better word…a little anxious.  I’m not looking forward to long hours of howling winds and rain.  We are now under a hurricane warning and a flood watch….a warning means hurricane conditions are imminent in the next 36 hours.  I have been accumulating ice and will buy a bag or two on…

    A Weird Week

It has been a weird week…and it isn’t over yet. On Sunday, I found out a dear friend had passed away the night before… On Tuesday, we had an earthquake ~ 5.9 magnitude ~ the strongest quake to hit Virginia in the last 100 years.  Yes, Virginia has earthquakes ~ however you normally don’t even notice them.  I felt this one yesterday…it was the second time I have experienced an earthquake.  I didn’t particularly enjoy it either time. We were in one of the “strong” blobs near near Newport News. And coming attractions ~ Hurricane Irene….closing in on where?  Hurricanes are interesting I think…you watch them form and then march across the ocean…

    Patricia

She was PJ to her friends…. …a beautiful soul… …I have no words to express… …how much I will miss talking with you… …how much I will miss laughing with you…sometimes until we cried. There are no words…only tears for now. They will be replaced with laughter and smiles…memories of things we said…things we did…memories. I will miss you forever my friend. Heartbroken

Remember this….. and this…. ….it now looks like this…. …and this… Thankfully she wasn’t in the vehicle.  She was the victim of a hit and run while her car was parked in front of a friends house last night.  She heard a noise, looked out the window and saw another car’s front end sitting in her trunk…she ran outside just in time to watch them back out of the trunk and drive away.  They may have fled the scene of the accident  but they thoughtfully left their license plate.   The police report was filed last night…the insurance company has been called…the vehicle was towed to the body shop to await its fate….and my big girl ~ she is…
