    An Old Friend

This is a photograph of a puzzle my oldest daughter put together for me years ago.  After she assembled it, my mother painted it with a substance that keeps puzzles together.  This has sat on my dresser since it was dry enough for me to take home.  She picked this particular puzzle because even at a very young age, she knew I would love it.  I have been a Wizard of Oz fan for as long as I can remember….it is one of my favorite movies of all time.  Each year whenever it was on television, that is where you would find me…traveling with Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Toto…

    A Bug In My Soup

Not my normal type of photograph….this is actually a screen shot of my effects palette in PSE7.  See the little black boxes….there should be images in those boxes like in the first few.  After I ran into some problems with PSE7 on Monday, I decided to un-install and then reinstall the program.  After I reinstalled, the actions didn’t load properly…..and the program is still acting up.  I think I’m going to have to try it once more.  It isn’t difficult….more of an annoyance ~ like a bug in your soup.

    Disappointment and Discovery

I went to the boat dock area this evening to capture a sunset. I was disappointed. My captures aren’t what I thought they would be. But I did like this image of the river grass. My discovery… I’m pretty sure my coolest bird shot to date is a Northern Mockingbird. I checked my Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America. It all fits….the wing coloring and pattern, white feathers on the outside of the tail. And the song. I know field guide for birds may not be the coolest thing I can admit to reading…. …but now you know what a Northern Mockingbird looks like.  🙂

    65

On January 1st of this year, I decided to do a post on each day of the year. I’m not going to lie to you….it hasn’t been easy. There have been days when I sit and stare at the computer. And look at photo after photo after photo. Then I have to decide what to write. And I got nothing…zippo….zero. Like tonight.  😐 65 days to go….

    Outside My Window ~ 10.24.10

Outside My Window…is 57ºF on a beautiful Sunday evening.  There is an amazing moon out tonight….huge….rising in the east and illuminating the neighborhood.  Tonight will be clear but we have a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow evening.  Our temperatures are going to climb back up to the high seventies and low eighty degree range until Friday when they will return to average temperatures of around 60ºF.  Hopefully the low humidity will continue as well. I am thinking…and formulating some plans in my head.  I have a passion for photography….it is something I enjoy and something I believe I am quite good at.  My photography as well as my editing capabilities have…

    Flowers

“In my garden there is a large place for sentiment. My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful.”                                                                                                                                    Abram Urban “Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of the character, though few can decypher even fragments of their meaning.”                                                                                                Lydia M. Child “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.”                                                                                                                           Buddha “By plucking her petals, you do not gather the beauty of…
