Outside My Window ~ 1.17.10
Outside My Window…is gray skies and pouring rain. Currently at 11:00 am, we are at 50ºF with winds at 29 mph. The forecast for today is a high of 58ºF with heavy rain. These temps and the rain should take away any remaining snow we had in the area from over a week ago. Yes, there was some lingering snow…particularly in well shaded areas. When I was driving down the Parkway last week, I noticed there was some snow on the beaches closer to the grassy areas as well. I was surprised to drive by a small pond and see it partially frozen with snow on top of the ice. Again, these are…

Outside My Window ~ 1.10.10
Outside My Window…is one word….COLD! Or I should say freezing, like most of the country. At 8:40 am, we are at 26F with winds at around 13mph giving us a 15F wind chill. The skies are blue and the sun is shining, but it is still COLD! Our forecast high for today is 36F and we will drop down to 21F tonight. The daytime temperatures for the coming week will improve but the nights will remain very cold. They are forecasting a high of 50F for Thursday ~ that will feel downright balmy after the temps of the past couple of weeks!! 🙂 I’m hoping this arctic air will let up soon…..I received my…

Outside My Window ~ 1.3.10
Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning. There are blue skies, sun shine and oh yea, it’s freezing cold!! The temperature at 8:00 this morning is 24F, the wind is blowing at 21 mph with gusts up to 30 mph which is creating a wind chill of about 10F. Our high today is suppose to be around 34F. Fortunately the sun is out so it may not seem that cold when you walk outside……who am I kidding, it is going to be freezing cold no matter what!! 🙂 I am thinking…the fresh water I put in the bird bath yesterday is now a solid block of ice. It was a block of…

Outside My Window ~ 12.27.09
Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning. Blue skies, sunshine a bit chilly at 42F with a 38F wind chill. The forecast for today doesn’t change much….a high of 56 with some clouds coming in this afternoon. We had a lot of rain with a high of 56 on Christmas Day. It didn’t begin to rain until around 2:00, but it continued throughout the night. Yesterday we woke up to cloudy skies and fog, but still relatively mild temps. For the coming week the temps will hover in the low to mid 40’s. I am thinking…about what I want to do today. Now is the time to get rolling on my list of things…

Outside My Window ~ 12.20.09
Outside My Window…is snow! We got our first snow of the season last night. I would say we got about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in my neighborhood. It started snowing about the time we went to the mall to pick Alanna up from work. By the time we got to our house, it was coming down at a pretty good rate. Right now at 11:30 am, we are at our high temperature of 37F with a 28F wind chill. The snow has melted for the most part on the roadways and is starting to melt in the grassy areas of full sun. I took a few photos last night and this morning ~ I know,…

Outside My Window ~ 12.13.09
Outside My Window…is rain! Yes, rain……cause everyone knows we could sure use it. We were actually in danger of some of the larger puddles drying out! 🙂 Seriously though…….it is raining, again. The forecast for today is to receive about a half an inch today. In normal conditions, a half an inch wouldn’t really mean all that much…..in our current condition, it just adds to the saturation. Right now at 9:30 a.m. we are at 56F, which is a great improvement over the 33F mornings we have been experiencing these last few days. We won’t get much warmer today, only a high of 59F. This temperature high will only last a couple of…

Outside My Window ~ 12.06.09
Outside My Window…the sun is coming up to a clear sky and temps at 35F ~ wind chill is 28F. The lack of clouds and rain has made me smile this morning. Yesterday was miserable and wet…..todays forecast is 45F with sunshine and blue skies. These sunshine days are welcome…..we really could do without the rain for a few days. I believe we already have over an inch of rain for the month of December……add that to the nearly 12 we received in November, well let’s just say the ground feels like a very soggy sponge. There were some very large puddles on roadways yesterday….there is no where for this…

Outside My Window ~ 11.29.09
Outside My Window…is bright, blue, sun shiny skies. The temperature this morning at 8:45 is 49F with very light winds. The humidity is low ~ for us anyway ~ at 59%. Any morning you wake up with no dew on the windshield, you know the humidity is low that morning. Our forecast for today is 67F with partly cloudy skies. With the exception of Wednesday and Friday, we have had pretty decent weather during my time off. Rain showers are in the forecast for tomorrow. I noticed our precipitation for the month of November is already at 11.19 inches……10 of which was received during Nor’Ida earlier this month. It has been a soggy month. I…

Outside My Window ~ 11.22.09
Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning. At 10:00 am, we are at 56F with 79% humidity, sunshine, blue skies with a few white fluffy clouds here and there. Very nice indeed. I was out and about early this morning to work in my side yard gathering up leaves and pulling some weeds. I finally got my daisy gardenia transplanted as well. I will miss it on my front porch. While it was in bloom, each time I walked in and out the door I was able to enjoy the wonderful aroma. It stated on the information tag that it was suited for pots, I’m thinking not so much. I’m hoping it does…

Outside My Window ~ 11.15.09
Outside My Window…is no wind and rain! Yeah! Fortunately, the low pressure system that caused us so many problems is well off the coast of North Carolina now. I woke up early and saw some blue skies while the sun was rising, but clouds took over. I just looked outside and it looks like that is attempting to burn off right now. We are at 55F right now with about 87% humidity, but the best part….winds are non-existent!! Our high is suppose to reach 72F today with partly cloudy skies. We are still under a coastal flood watch until around 10 this morning. I guess all the folks right on the coast…
