    A Texture/Overlay Freebie

I was trying to decide what to post tonight as I played around with a few texture images I had when it morphed into this…. I used it in this image below as an example….first the original photograph Not a bad photograph…and now after I added the texture/overlay… My recipe for the “after” photograph was original image and one layer of Prototype 1 – blending mode is multiply @ 75% opacity…a second layer of Prototype 1 on top of the first layer – blending mode is overlay @ 40% opacity.  You can download the texture/overlay here.  It is a large 300dpi file ~ 3300 x 3300 ~ so it may…

    Outside My Window ~ 2.26.2012

Outside my window…is cold ~ C-O-L-D!   Right now it is 34°F and it feels bone chilling to me.  We went from summer on Friday with a high of 80° to brrrrr chilly this evening.  In between, we had wind ~ lots of it Friday evening and Saturday.  This week will be hanging in the mid sixties, a little above average….and cold evenings. I am thinking…I really am liking the new camera.  I’m still getting use to the feel and the weight….it is a comfortable camera to handle,  ergonomically comfortable….much more so than my previous camera.  I’m anxious to get the battery grip but I wanted to handle the camera alone…

A trip to Mt. Evans ~ circa July 1979 Mt. Evans ~ 14,265 feet ~ 154 feet taller than Pikes Peak A view of Echo Lake along the road to Mt. Evans. A frozen Summit Lake….did I mention this was June?  🙂  The high alpine lake lies in a cirque formed by Mt Evans and neighboring Mt Spalding (13,842).  Notice the tiny little people by the lakes edge…it is quite large. The Crest House at the top of Mt. Evans was built in 1941.  It once served as restaurant and gift shop as well as an observation deck.  It also provided emergency oxygen for visitors.  I wish I had a…

    Well Worn

I’m working on some textures and overlays this evening and eventually worked my way to creating some worn pages.  I like vintage….I like old….I look at it and can’t help but wonder what tales could be told from the worn item in front of me.  I can remember exploring this old house near my grandparents farm…the treasures we found inside.  Old magazines, newspapers…it was fascinating.  My only regret is I wasn’t smart enough to hang on to any of them.  🙂

    Outside My Window ~ 2.19.2012

Outside my window…is a fairly nasty day….cold, wet, wind.  Currently  at 3:00 p.m. we are at 39°F with sleet and 13mph winds from the north north-east….gusts up to 22mph.  Our forecast is calling for rain/snow this evening and a low of 34°F.  No one seems to know if we are going to get any type of accumulation from this storm ~ everyone has a different story to tell.  I suppose these types of storms are hard to forecast, but “it may or may not snow”…really, I could tell you that.  I actually wouldn’t mind a storm like we had in the photograph above…the day after Christmas in 2010….snow everywhere with…
