    Friday Flashback

Kiowa, Colorado ~ Circa 1981 Maybe an hour or so outside of Denver…head south, eastern plains. I can remember watching the storms while looking north across the plains late one afternoon…we watched several tornadoes drop from the sky… …it was awesome and frightening all at the same time. You could see a car coming down the dirt road for miles at night…and the faint glow of the lights of Denver to the northwest. You could hear the coyotes while sitting around the fires at night…and imagined they were just outside the fires glow….watching. A totem created by the land owners to keep evil away…land owners that were our very good…

    Thursday Thoughts

{Zinnia ~ before Hurricane Irene took them away} ~ Summer is officially over tomorrow….another one has come and gone…they seem to come and go much quicker as I have grown older….however I’m ready for fall. ~ My daughter’s car has been repaired and is back on the road again…happily the repairs were reasonable….as reasonable as car repairs can be I suppose. ~ Dinner at my mother’s house tonight was excellent…pork roast, boiled potatoes with baby limas….I ate to much. ~ We are in a heavy rain pattern for the next four days…currently under a flash flood watch until midnight Saturday….our forecast is for 4 or more inches of rain….the ground…

    Film

Not so long ago I ran across my old 35mm SLR camera… Many of the images you have seen on Friday Flashback were taken with this camera. The places it has been….the sights it has seen and photographed…the memories that come flooding back when I hold this camera in my hands are many. I held it one day, my fingers turning the dial, looking through the viewfinder as I focused…I remembered you had to push the button on the bottom to release your film…then winding until you heard the film release from the slot you had so lovingly tucked it in to not that long ago.  Pull up on the…

    Outside My Window ~ 9.19.2011

Outside my window…is a mild albeit mostly cloudy Monday afternoon.  Our temperature during the noon hour is 72°F….close to the forecast high of 73°F.  We had rain all weekend…not torrential rains, light and steady for the most part.  Tomorrow will be warmer with a forecast high of 80°F and a chance of thunderstorms.  With the exception of a few warmer days in the middle of the week, we will experience more days like today over the next week or so.  I’m loving me some cooler temperatures….don’t even mind the rain showers. I am thinking…or maybe I should say I am hoping beyond hope that the repairs for my daughter’s car…

    September Sunrise

Sometimes it is worth getting up at the crack o’dawn for work. I took this photograph one morning with my point and shoot camera. I usually post images of things that made me smile this week on Saturdays…. I can’t think about that now ~ my mind is full of car repair issues. My brain is on overload thinking about all the possibilities….

    Outside My Window ~ 9.11.2011

Outside my window…is the closing hours on a beautiful Sunday.  It was indeed beautiful.  Blue skies….sunshine…and a high of 86°F….not so different from that Tuesday ten years ago.  The rest of the week will be much of the same, no rain in the forecast. I would actually prefer some cooler temperatures rather than the mid 80’s and it appears as if “wish granted” by the end of the week when temperatures will fall to the mid to low 70’s for a time. I really enjoy this time of year ~ everything is still green and the temperatures are beginning to feel more like fall.  This is also my favorite time of year for sunsets as well.  The cooler days produce less haze and the light…
