Outside My Window ~ 7.11.11
Outside my window…is a warm and relatively humid night. At 9:00 this evening we are currently at 85°F but it feels like 91°F. I just stepped outside to see if it was still that warm outside…it is. I suppose this is the head start to a high of 98°F forecast for tomorrow. I can’t get over the 90+ temperature days we have had so far this year. I think there are more than a few people that will agree that this has been a hot, miserable season thus far. I am glad…the blinding migraine that paid me a visit yesterday has decided to let up enough so I can almost function like a normal person again…

Not what you expected here today…

Things that made me smile this week…
First and foremost….I heard from the insurance company and the other person’s policy will be accepting the responsibility for these damages to my daughter’s car ~ wooo hoooo! 🙂 Now to hear from the claims adjuster…ever notice how insurance claims are always a game of hurry up and wait? There were other things to smile about as well…. My pineapple/coconut ice cream was delicious..and made without an ice cream maker. I will have the recipe tomorrow in Outside My Window…. …little birds that peep and pose…. ….afternoon rain showers that has made everything lush and green…. …roses peeking out through the middle of the red maple tree… …more farm fresh goodness from friends….…

Friday Flashback
When I was 22, Ivan (my then boyfriend) and I headed west…to Denver, Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. Our dream….find a place to live….find a decent job….and backpack the Rockies. We found a little apartment that was a great price….we were both employed within a week after arriving…and we backpacked the Rockies….many, many times. One of our favorite places was above Nederland, Colorado in the Arapaho National Forest…Indian Peaks Wilderness area. We would pack up the blazer, head up there very early in the morning and hike to one of the most beautiful and secluded areas you have ever seen…a place where we rarely saw another camper on the trail. The packs were heavy, the trail was a long one…it took…

38 Years Ago Today…
My mother woke me early that morning…like she always did…time to clean the house. It was a Saturday morning ritual I dreaded but one I had grown accustomed to during my 18 years. Except this was a Friday…why today. “Hurry up” was my answer. I always moved rather slow when it came to doing household chores but on this particular morning she was really pushing…really rushing. Finally the magic time came when we were finished…time to relax. Except this day, there was no relaxing, no hanging with friends…it was time to go she said….to the hospital. My mother was pregnant….my step father was in the Navy and had just left a couple of days earlier on…

Outside My Window ~ 7.3.11
Outside my window…is a very warm and partly cloudy Sunday afternoon. At around 12:15 today, we are at 85°F with humidity at 63% and little or no breeze. I was outside for a little while this morning and I can attest to the fact that it is muggy and warm. Our forecast high of 90°F and sunshine is making the tourists that traveled to our shores quite happy. Nothing ruins a beach vacation like cloudy and rainy weather. There is a good chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening that will either turn the entire place into a giant steam bath or cool us off a bit. I hope it is the latter. I am…

Things That Made Me Smile This Week
After what happened to my daughter’s car Tuesday night, I really had a tough time finding a lot to smile about. I managed to find a few things…like gas prices that continue to fall…. ….more farm fresh goodness and a safe way to transport them home…. …and happily enjoying my homemade granola. Hopefully next week will bring news on the car situation and that will make me smile. What made you smile this week?

Friday Flashback
This image was taken 16 years ago today…my oldest daughter and her cousin. His family was visiting from out of town and we had just eaten breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Her cousin just celebrated his 22nd birthday yesterday. It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago when this photograph was taken… …time flies much too quickly as you watch your children grow. Happy Birthday Dustin!
