    Outside My Window ~ 5.29.11

Outside my window…right now at 12:15 p.m., it is 82°F with about 62% humidity.  Our high is forecast for 85°F today with lots of sunshine and a few clouds.  The sky is a brilliant blue and there are a few white, puffy clouds out there now….not enough to block the sunshine.  I’m sure the local beaches are quite full by this point…and if you aren’t there by now, be prepared to endure a lot of traffic to get there.  Helpful hint number one….getting to the beach early enables you to pick that prime spot and you avoid the mind numbing traffic that comes later in the day.  🙂   It looks as…

Things that made me smile this week…

Home-cooked goodness at my mom’s house… Dress found…no more shopping…sweet…  😉 Backyard ducks…. Seeing my tomatoes multiply… A bloom from a plant that made it through the winter in the house when I had my doubts… Gazing at my fountain as I enjoyed a backyard corner filled with jasmine… Fungi enjoying a new hangout… Welcoming back old friends…. What made you smile this week?  🙂

    Quietly Soaring

How often can you walk out the door, look up and see a blimp? I know…not so much right?   I walked out the door at my mom’s house and heard a slight roaring noise, looked up and bolted right back inside to grab my camera. ‘Cause like I said, how often does that happen?  🙂   Credits for the image pizzazz: Texture by Doug Landreth/Photomorphis Compass Brush by Fuzzimo Cloud Brush by http://javierzhx.deviantart.com/art/Cloud-Brushes-34277964

    And then the sky boiled…

The storms across the country have been horrific lately. I got some shots of one storm that rolled through our area a couple of nights ago. I noticed the sky had the eerie yellow hue it sometimes gets when large storms are coming. When I stepped outside to check out the sky, I thought the formations were interesting. As soon as the lightening got interesting, I decided it was time to go in. Sometimes it is amazing to witness the power of a storm.

    Gone Fishing

I’m surprised at the different birds I have seen this spring.  There were the kind of creepy birds at the boat dock.   I also published a series of photos a short time ago of what I thought was a White Heron when actually it is a Great Egret.  I realized my mistake when I was looking up information on this bird.   I shot this Green Heron around sunset a week or so ago…he was fishing for creatures in the water.  At first I didn’t notice him on the bank because he was very still.  He stood for a bit then continued on his quest for water creatures.  He would walk along the bank…

    Outside My Window ~ 5.22.11

Outside my window…is a fabulous morning!  At 11:00 a.m., we have blue skies, sunshine and 79°F.  Our forecast high is 85°F today.  I have a feeling all roads leading to the beaches will be crowded today.  Of course the water is still brrrrrr chilly and will definitely take your breath when it hits you, but a quick run in and out on a hot day will feel nice.   We do have a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms this evening and tomorrow.  Speaking of tomorrow and the rest of the week, it will be even warmer with 88°F for our highs and 70°F for our lows.  Welcome summer? I am thinking…about our day of prom dress shopping…
