Outside My Window ~ 5.15.11
Outside my window…is a Sunday that didn’t quite know what it wanted to do. Cloudy….rain….sun….cloudy….more rain….more sun. Currently, at 8:00 p.m., we are at 72°F with cloudy skies…there may even be a few rain drops falling as I sit here. Looks like we have had a little over a quarter inch of rain in the past 24 hours ~ I think most of that fell last night during some storms that moved through our area. When I went to bed it was raining quite hard with lots of lightening and thunder. It is quite humid outside right now, 78%…and if you are doing any type of activity out there right now, you know it. I…

High Water and Birds
I stopped by the boat dock on my way home Thursday evening. This is one of my favorite locations for shooting sunsets. As I drove towards the river, I was surprised at how much standing water there was on the sides of the road. I was even more surprised when I got to the river and saw how high the water was. The dock I usually walk out on is totally under water. I’m still not sure why the water level was so high…no storms or any reason that I have heard. I mean, the Mississippi is flooding but this river is a long way from there. I do know…

Shawboro, North Carolina
A few photographs from the little town I visited a few weeks ago. I spent lazy summer days in this little town many, many years ago. The old post office….I remember when this was brand new. The new one is next door ~ but the building wasn’t near as interesting as this one. 🙂 Older homes dot the country side….some small…. ….some not so small…. …and some have seen better days. Wide open fields of green…and yellow… …and some were just plain yellow… A huge field of buttercups… …it can make you smile….and remind you of days gone by.

The Gardens at Biltmore
A few images from the Walled Garden at the Biltmore House, Asheville, North Carolina. These were taken in the upper garden area which features the flowers. The shrub garden is located near the conservatory but was not in bloom during our visit in early April. The photographs will show you a sample of the gardens but they barely do justice to the actual gardens which are quite breathtaking. Looking towards the conservatory from the upper flower garden. A view of the house from the flower garden area.

Outside My Window ~ 5.8.11
Outside My Window…right now, at 6:31 p.m, we have mostly sunny skies and 66°F. Our forecast today was for occasional rain showers and a high of 71°F. The chance for rain was less than 50% and it appears we had that very early this morning. The wind is light…branches are gently swaying in the breeze now and then…but it is not enough to cause my wind chimes to sing to me. Our temperatures will hover in the mid to low 70 range all this week. This is typical weather in my area for this time of year. It generally cools off and stays this way around Mother’s Day and a few days following. …

I Dreamed I Was Running
I dreamed I was running last night. The dream was actually a little weird in the beginning…. I was going around my old course ~ sitting in an old office chair on wheels as my feet were running on the pavement. A little weird right? 😕 Suddenly I was up on my feet….and I was running again….and it felt wonderful. It was so real, I could feel myself pacing my breath with my steps…..feel the chill from the light coat of sweat glistening on my body in the cool morning air. I could hear my footsteps as I ran…there was no pain in my foot. I squinted in the morning sun…and enjoyed the…
