Outside My Window ~ 4.18.10
Outside My Window…is the ending to a marvelous day today. The temperature was mild….a nice breeze with blue skies and sunshine. We had rain showers yesterday morning but it cleared up nicely by the afternoon, which carried over into today. I spent a large part of the afternoon working in the backyard….weeding and planting a few new flowers. The tomato plants I picked up last weekend are doing really well ~ one of the reasons I love summer….fresh veggies are so plentiful! I am thinking…how incredibly fast the time goes by during the weekends. The work days seem to drag on forever ~ even when I’m swamped with work. I…

It’s That Time Again
If you have been visiting here for a while, you may remember I participated in The Great Sunflower Project last year. In case you haven’t, the idea behind this project is by San Francisco State University is to gather data on urban, rural and suburban bee populations. To participate, plant a certain type of sunflower plant and count the bees that visit during a specific amount of time. I know…..yawn ~ how exciting. But actually, it isn’t so bad. Take a cold beverage and sit outside while you view and count ~ I can think of worse way to spend a day. 🙂 Because of increased participation, they have asked that you purchase your seeds…

Way Behind
It was my intent to catch up on uploading photos to my Flickr account while I was on vacation….that didn’t happen. I decided I didn’t want to spend my vacation doing that….I liked visiting with my parents much better. 🙂 So I’m thinking tonight, why not work on catching things up. It sounded like a plan so I sat down and began to go back in time to see where I left off. I have uploaded some random things here and there ~ but I soon discovered I am way, way behind! I uploaded some October photos in December….and that was it. I’m all the way back in November….the images in this post are a sampling…..yes…

Think About It ~ Please.
The images above are my sweet baby girls. I was very, very fortunate…save for a couple of ear infections and minor colds, my daughters were incredibly healthy. On that note…..I like to visit several photography blogs….a great place to get tips and ideas. One day I found Pics and Kicks, the blog for Hawaii Wedding and Family Photographer Natalie Norton. Natalie also contributes articles to Digital Photography School on the web. Unfortunately, I discovered Natalie’s site during a time of great despair for her and her family. Her three month old baby boy was fighting for his life in the hospital. He had been diagnosed with pertussis ~ better known as whooping cough. He contracted this…

Outside My Window ~ 4.11.10
Outside My Window…is the end of a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Mid 70’s…..sunshine…..blue skies….just a slight breeze ~ simply beautiful. I spent the better part of today working outside, weeding and trimming. Combined with the hauling and work I did today with the mad house cleaning from yesterday, I probably won’t be able to move tomorrow. 🙂 I am thinking…I’m going to share with you the greatest and most economical weed block I have ever used. Last year in Mother Earth News someone wrote about using newspaper as weed block. The method is to lay down newspaper in the area you want to block weeds and wet it thoroughly. Cover the wet…

A Few Images
I think the spring cleaning bug has bitten me. I have been cleaning almost non stop since I got home from my vacation in Catawba. Not only cleaning, but reorganizing and rearranging. I have been going and going….I’m happy with the results, but it has taken a great deal of my time and left me quite exhausted. I’m posting a few images from my trip. Actually, there are not tons of photos this time. I did take quite a few, but not as many as the last time. One reason ~ unbelievable pollen while we were there kept us in the house a good deal of the time. We did…

Home Again
We arrived home….safe and sound. We traveled ahead of the storms that were heading for the east coast. I spent a good part of the day today unpacking and cleaning…as well as resting. Guess I’m not as young as I use to be….traveling wears me out a bit. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to visit you all tomorrow as well as post some photos from my trip.
