Scenes From My Backyard
I sat in my little backyard yesterday for a bit. I had lots to do….but it was a nice morning, and I decided to sit for a little while and take some practice shots. I had filled the bird feeders and sat quietly in a corner of the yard….if you feed them, they will come. 🙂 This little guy was quite curious….almost to ask why I wasn’t leaving….you filled the bird feeders, time to leave human…. I don’t know the name of the tree this Blue Jay is sitting in, but I loved how the the little seed pods added a little decoration to the background. Those seed…

Outside My Window ~ 3.28.10
Outside My Window…the sun is setting and the clouds are building up once again. We have a pretty high chance of thunderstorms this evening with rain continuing throughout the day Monday. Today for the most part was a beautiful day….temps were not as high as last weekend, quite a bit cooler actually. But we did have a lot of sunshine and it was very nice while sitting in the sun. We have another low pressure system that is going to move up the coast tonight and tomorrow…there have been so many since last fall I have lost count. On the plus side, the rain helps keeps the pollen down…..on the…

Earth Hour
We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors… we borrow it from our children. ~ David Brower ~ Don’t forget to turn off your lights for one hour this evening beginning at 8:30 p.m. local time. Have a late evening candlelight dinner…..sit outside (weather permitting) and gaze at the night sky…..spend the time with family, friends and loved ones. You will be surprised at how quickly the time will pass and you may even continue into the night without lights. Alone we are one….together we are many. For more information, visit the Earth Hour home page.

Wild Violets
Did you know that wild violets are considered a weed? It is classified as difficult to control because it has waxy leaves, an extensive root system and is fairly resistant to weed killers. Actually, I’m very happy they are so resistant because look how pretty! 🙂 Not many people actively plant weeds in their garden ~ now you can say you know someone who does.

Welcome To Denver
The Mile High City….Denver, Colorado….land of promise and dreams for myself and my then boyfriend. Thirty three years ago, the view of the city and the Rocky Mountains took our breath away as we drove in from the east. We had taken our time getting here…but the closer we got, the more anxious we were. The lure was a new adventure….the mountains, it was the reason we came. It was our dream to see them…..to hike in them…..to backpack in them. We were finally here. We contacted our friend from Virginia and found his house in Denver. He had generously offered his home to us until we could find our own…

Outside My Window ~ 3.21.10
Outside My Window…is a cloudy but warm evening. The clouds are building up with rain forecast for later tonight and tomorrow. We had the most incredible weekend. The first day of spring was beautiful….sunshine, blue skies and a temperature of 76ºF. It couldn’t have been a more perfect way to welcome in the first day of spring. Today was just as wonderful…..again with the sunshine, blue skies and high temperature of 76ºF. The clouds didn’t begin to build up until later in the afternoon. Rain is expected this evening, Monday and Tuesday….the temps won’t be as warm as this past weekend, but they won’t be too bad either. I am…

It’s Spring!!
For all of us in the northern hemisphere, March 20th marks the Vernal Equinox, the beginning of Spring. This is one of the two days each year when the night and daylight hours are virtually equal. The other happens in September. This is a time of rebirth and celebration as the earth awakens from her winter slumber, flowers and trees bloom and the temperatures begin to warm the ground and our bodies. Of course, all of us who suffer from allergies will be sneezing a bit more and in between the spring rains everything will be covered with pollen….but Skippity Doo Dah ~ it’s getting warm again folks!! 🙂 It all happens at 1:32 p.m. EDT….let the celebrations begin!!
