Outside My Window ~ 1.27.2013
Outside my window…we are currently at 30°F at 10:00 this evening. The skies were mostly clear when Turbo and I took our walk around 7:30 but there were some light clouds. The forecast calls for temperatures to hover in the low 30’s with increasing clouds. We have been cold since last week and even got roughly 4 inches of snow this past Friday. While most of it has melted, there are still some areas that have quite a bit of snow on the ground….and there is some icy patches here and there. I expect it will all be gone tomorrow if we reach the forecast high of 49°F and the 30%…

Snow
We got about three inches this afternoon and evening. I always like the way the house looks after a snow fall…. ….and I am definitely in love with night photography. I want more of both.

Moon-Jupiter Conjunction
“There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls.” ~ George Carlin The moon has been one of my favorite photography subjects for some time so when I heard that there would be a moon-Jupiter conjunction, I knew I wanted to get a few shots of that. Here are my favorite photographs with the “stats”…. ISO 100 ~ 250mm ~ f/5.6 ~ 1/400 sec This image was taken January 21, 2013 and I was going for moon detail so Jupiter is not as bright….but you can see it near the center top of the image. I also added some texture to this because…well, it was kind of boring without it. 🙂…

Make Your Own Homemade Butter
You Will Need 2 Cups Heavy Cream or Manufacturing Cream Sea Salt {optional} Pitcher of Ice Water Stand Mixer Wire Wisk Attachment Beater Attachment Splash Guard or Hand Towel To Cover Mixer Yield: 2 Cups Heavy Cream = 8 Ounces Butter plus approximately 1 Cup Buttermilk To begin, the heavy cream should be between 60°F and 65°F so it will separate quickly. Per the instructions, I used one cup heavy cream at a time. Begin with the wire whisk and mix until it forms firm peaks. I set my mixer on medium high so it took maybe two to three minutes to reach that point. I would suggest you cover the mixer with a…

Outside My Window ~ 1.20.2013
Outside my window…is the closing hour of another weekend. Currently at 11:00 in the evening it is 46°F with clear skies. We have had relatively clear skies since the Thursday evening snowfall…which was after 7 days of fog and rain. To say the ground is still completely saturated is an understatement…..walking on the grass is like walking on a thoroughly soaked sponge, including the squish, squish, squish. We have had relatively mild temperatures since then however there is still plenty of snow on many of the roofs around the neighborhood however I think all the snow on the ground melted today. Our snowfall wasn’t all that much….it was maybe a couple…
