Thirty three years ago, my boyfriend at that time and I decided we wanted an adventure. I was 22, he was 27. We were both from the East Coast….I had traveled some in my young years because my father and stepfather were in the Navy……he had spent his entire life in Virginia. I was from the coast, he was from the Piedmont area. We met while working together at a hotel in Williamsburg ~ at that time known as the Best Western 1776. He was a waiter, I was a desk clerk. We met….dated….and fell in love. After a period of dating, we moved in together and planned our adventure. We saved and…

Outside My Window ~ 3.7.10
Outside My Window…is a wonderful 59ºF with sunshine and blue skies at 2:30 p.m.. A little later post today….I woke up and dove right in to spring cleaning. I took a break to eat some lunch and thought it would be a good time to finish this post. We are at our forecast high for the day but the temperature tomorrow will be in the mid 60’s with lots of sunshine. I have noticed more and more robin redbreasts around the yard…..a sure sign spring is not too far off. I am thinking…I’m not so fond of the raccoon that has been coming into the backyard to snack on the sunflower…

Bruton Parish Cemetery
A section of the Bruton Parish Cemetery. Bruton Parish Church is located in the restored area of Colonial Williamsburg. It was established in 1674 in the Virginia Colony and remains an active Episcopal parish. There are some incredibly old tombstones which you can read with your naked eye but they do not photograph well. There were two of these close to the path that I was on that simply said “Confederate Soldier” and a year….. From the Bruton Parish web site…….. Many Confederate Soldiers died in the Battle of Williamsburg fought May 5, 1862 and were buried in the Bruton Parish church yard. At the end of that day, there were 4,000 casualties…

Outside My Window ~ 2.28.10
Outside My Window…is blue skies, sunshine and a slight breeze. The temperature at 11:30 a.m. is 42º with a 37º wind chill….forecast high is expected to be around 54º. It doesn’t actually feel all that chilly outside. I was surprised to see the wind chill was that low. I went out earlier this morning without a jacket and thought it felt quite nice. I am thinking…about all the things I need to get accomplished today. It is a bit of a list, but not an impossibility. I started some chores early this morning and decided to take a break to do this post for the day. I am thankful for…not getting sick last…
