Little Creek In The Forest
This little creek winds through the forest and is usually not much…..but due to the mass quantities of rain this winter, it is deeper and flowing quite nicely now. My plan was to get a few more photos, but the floor of the forest is like a huge sponge….far too soggy to go exploring on.

Outside My Window ~ 1.24.10
Outside My Window…is a cloudy afternoon around 2:15 pm, and about 65ºF. I believe we have a forecast for rain this evening, rain and wind tomorrow. The temperature is wonderful out, first time in a long time I have been able to go outside without a jacket….comfortably anyway. 🙂 There was sun shine when I woke up, but the clouds quickly took over around noon. I am thinking…about the drive earlier today. I took Cailin out again and happy to report there is good progress. Today we drove for about an hour and a half and approximately 50 miles. We began at Newport News Park and headed north to Williamsburg, drove the Parkway…

Keepsakes
Keepsakes ~ a gift that evokes memories of a person or event with which it is associated I think most people collect keepsakes….pressed flowers from someone special….a piece of jewelry….a cuddly toy. When you gaze upon these items, they remind you of a special date, a special person, a special moment. I have several such keepsakes from my childhood, my children and my grandparents. My friend Tracey at These Nine Acres wrote a post about a keepsake from her grandmother. I began to think about some of the keepsakes I have from my grandmothers. My maternal grandmother, the wife of a farmer….a woman who deeply believed in her faith…..who would sing hymns…

Thanks Reba and Lacey!
Wouldn’t you love to have farm fresh eggs available to you? A couple of months ago a friend at work offered me just that. He and his wife had purchased some land and built a house a couple of years ago. In the fall of last year, they decided to add chickens to the mix. And with chickens, you hope to get eggs…..they were not disappointed. But the eggs kept coming….quicker than he or his wife could eat them. So they each went in to work one day and asked their friends if anyone would be interested in free eggs from free roaming, organically fed chickens. The only stipulation, you had to bring your own…

Simple and Delicious
Years ago, my former sister-in-law passed on this recipe to me. My entire family has been eternally grateful ever since. 🙂 A dessert so simple to make….and quite tasty too! Giant Cream Puff Crust 1 cup water 1 stick butter 1 cup flour 4 eggs Bring water and butter to a boil. Remove from heat and add flour. Stir well until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Set aside to cool. After the dough has cooled, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Spread this mixture in the bottom of a 9″ x 13″ pan. Bake in a…
