Outside my window…is a dreary, rainy, windy, chilly, miserable morning. Yup, I think that about covers it. We are awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Sandy sometime tomorrow but because the storm is so huge, we are getting a taste of what is to come for now. The rain started late yesterday afternoon….the wind began about that time too. It rained all night….not torrential downpours, just a steady rain…and the wind really picked up the pace sometime in the early morning hours. Remember how I was saying all summer long how I wished it would rain…. …and how I was so happy these past two days we were finally getting rain? Well…..see the big clump of yellow over Eastern Virginia? Wish Granted! I guess I should have specified I didn’t mean all at once.

Nashville
I had heard about the rain and flooding in Nashville this past weekend…..neighborhoods under water, lives lost. I have seen the same aerial views on television over and over ~ tragedy has struck again. Today I had the opportunity to see it through the eyes of a photographer that lives in Nashville ~ a more personal view if you will. Final Update
The nor’Easter that has been named Nor’Ida is slowly moving away from the North Carolina coast. The rain and winds have diminished quite a bit and are still impacting the Northeast but we are calm for the most part. No howling winds, no torrential rains….it is quiet now but we are definitely wetter than we were three days ago. I have discovered the unconfirmed rainfall total I posted yesterday was not the grand total….the final tally for Newport News was 10.01 inches of rain. Only Virginia Beach received more rain at 10.25 inches. Here are a few photos our local paper, The Daily Press, had online…… This photo was taken in Poquoson before the…
