Dream Realized
Last fall, I would pass by this house in Colonial Williamsburg that had a fence covered with morning glory flowers and vines….it was beautiful. The big, blue flowers would greet me every day before work. I decided I wanted to plant morning glories so they would grow over my fence by my front door and greet me each morning when I walked out. Dream realized……..

Outside My Window ~ 8.8.10
Outside My Window…is a partly cloudy morning, about 77ºF outside at 8:30 this morning. The humidity right now is 90%…which is typical for the early morning hours….it will drop down to about 60% later today. I knew it was pretty humid out by the amount of moisture on the car windows and my eastern facing windows. Our high today is forecast to be 90ºF with sunshine. We has some pretty rough storms again this past Thursday evening. I haven’t heard officially but I believe we had a micro-burst in the section of the city where my mother lives. My sister saw a gas station with part of the roof torn off not too…

Why I Love My Rain Barrel
My name is Debbie ~ and I’m a sucker for suffering, drought stricken plants. I had made a decision last night after yet another afternoon of watching the Weather Channel and witnessing the big, green blog which typically indicates rain on the weather map disintegrate as soon as it got to my area. Yet another afternoon of no rain. I discovered this past weekend that we are in the grips of a moderate drought but they assured us that would be relieved to a degree after a Saturday of soaking rains. Well, the soaking rains went everywhere but here. We barely got a shower. So I made a decision….I had to let…

Like A Flower
Life is sometimes like a flower. Take my hibiscus plant for instance…. I start out my day….. fresh….ready….looking good. And then I get home from work…… ….and I’m feeling a bit tired and wilted. Bumbly Bees & Sunflowers
I love sunflowers. I love watching them as they grow from alien looking buds to big, beautiful yellow flowers. I baby them as they grow….keeping the area around the roots weed free….making sure they have enough water. Our drought has been hard on them this year but they seem to be doing alright. Maybe not as large as last year, but doing well all the same. This is my second year growing sunflowers. Last year I discovered The Great Sunflower Project. Outside My Window ~ 7.11.10
Outside My Window…is 85ºF with partly cloudy skies. Our forecast high today is 91º and sunshine. Right now it looks as if some dark clouds are trying to form over the neighborhood…enough to block out the sun at the moment. Personally, I wouldn’t care if it rained all day long….nice, steady shower….thoroughly soaking the ground….all day. We got a small amount of rain yesterday ~ not enough to perk up my vinca plants in the front garden….not enough to save my mint plant. It is toast I fear. My tomato plants while not yet dead seem to have suffered from the intense heat and humidity we had for so many days. …
