    Outside My Window ~ 5.30.10

Outside My Window…is a warm, hazy morning.  Currently it is 78ºF with 76% humidity and partly sunny skies.  The forecast high for today is 91ºF with a threat of thunderstorms.  This heat combined with high humidity equals a soupy enough mixture to create afternoon thunderstorms.  For Memorial Day they are forecasting a high of 94ºF with sunny skies….sounds like  a perfect beach day although I probably will not be going.   I still enjoy the beach but I don’t enjoy the heat and humidity so much any more.  🙂 I am thinking…about a site I witnessed last night with my neighbor as we stood outside and talked.  It was around dusk….the sun…

    Happy St Patrick’s Day + 200

Welcome St. Patrick’s Day 2010.  I believe in a previous life I must have lived, loved and died in Ireland.  I don’t believe there is a single place on this planet that I have wanted to set foot on more than the Emerald Isle, or Eire.   The land calls to me…..and when I look at images, especially older ones like the one above, it feels so familiar.  ~  Sigh  ~  Perhaps one day I will wander the hills and shores…..and know this is home. There are so many things associated with St. Patrick’s Day….green being the number one thing that comes to mind.  Always had to wear green to avoid being pinched.  I…

    Outside My Window ~ 12.27.09

Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning.  Blue skies, sunshine a bit chilly at 42F with a 38F wind chill.  The forecast for today doesn’t change much….a high of 56 with some clouds coming in this afternoon.  We had a lot of rain with a high of 56 on Christmas Day.  It didn’t begin to rain until around 2:00, but it continued throughout the night.  Yesterday we woke up to cloudy skies and fog, but still relatively mild temps.  For the coming week the temps will hover in the low to mid 40’s.   I am thinking…about what I want to do today.  Now is the time to get rolling on my list of things…

    Oh Christmas Tree……

I’m home today……..my youngest daughter is not feeling well.  She was running a fever this morning and said she had awaken earlier in the morning with chills.  She is old enough to stay alone if she wants to, but this morning she said she didn’t want to be alone today.  It was my first clue that she really doesn’t feel good, so off came my work clothes and made the call to my supervisor.  I took the opportunity to get some photos of our Christmas tree.  This tree was purchased by my dearest friend David (from California) when he visited one year.  It was during the Thanksgiving holidays and I brought my trusty old…

    Outside My Window ~ 11.22.09

Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning.  At 10:00 am, we are at 56F with 79% humidity, sunshine, blue skies with a few white fluffy clouds here and there.  Very nice indeed.  I was out and about early this morning to work in my side yard gathering up leaves and pulling some weeds.  I finally got my daisy gardenia transplanted as well.  I will miss it on my front porch.  While it was in bloom, each time I walked in and out the door I was able to enjoy the wonderful aroma.  It stated on the information tag that  it was suited for pots, I’m thinking not so much.  I’m hoping it does…

    Happy Samhain

Long ago at the end of the third and final harvest, the Celts celebrated Samhain.  It was a time to commune with and remember the dead, a celebration of the eternal cycle of reincarnation.  One of the possible sources for the origin of the name Samhain is from the Irish Gaelic word “samhraidh read”, which means the summer’s end.  It marked the end of summer and the beginning of winter for the Celts.  The day after Samhain is the official date of the Celtic New Year.  This day was chosen as the date to celebrate because it was at this time the sun was at it’s lowest point on the horizon…

    Outside My Window ~ 9.6.09

Outside My Window…is blue skies, temperature is 67F with 83% humidity at 8:00 a.m.  The sun has just gotten up over the rooftops so it is pretty nice outside right now.  We are forecasted to have a high of 86F with partly sunny skies today.  For Labor Day, cloudy and showers….guess that means everyone will be heading home from the beaches sooner than they planned.  We had a glimpse of fall this past week with temperatures hovering in the low 70’s during the day. I am thinking…about how much I enjoy long, holiday weekends.  It is perfect…..you get a long, three day weekend and then the following week, a short…

    Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Today America celebrates Independence Day.  Take a minute today to remember those who sacrificed so much so that we may celebrate freely.
