    Summer Solstice

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine. Whatever is dreamed on this night, will come to pass. ~ William Shakespeare

    Outside My Window ~ 5.2.10

Outside My Window…is a very warm morning.  Already the temps are at 78º with partly cloudy skies…actually more sun than clouds right now.  Combine the humidity it feels like 81º outside at 9:25 am.  Our forecast high for today is 94º with winds 15 to 25mph.   This sounds like a forecast for a summer day, not early May when our average temperature is 70º.  The beaches are definitely welcoming visitors this weekend but with the winds, you will feel like you are being sandblasted.  To get some relief, you may venture into the water….except  while the air temperature is very hot, the water temperature is still spring temperatures…that means you will be wading…

    Outside My Window ~ 3.21.10

Outside My Window…is a cloudy but warm evening.  The clouds are building up with rain forecast for later tonight and tomorrow.   We had the most incredible weekend.  The first day of spring was beautiful….sunshine, blue skies and a temperature of 76ºF.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect way to welcome in the first day of spring.  Today was just as wonderful…..again with the sunshine, blue skies and high temperature of 76ºF.  The clouds didn’t begin to build up until later in the afternoon.  Rain is expected this evening, Monday and Tuesday….the temps won’t be as warm as this past weekend, but they won’t be too bad either. I am…

    It’s Spring!!

For all of us in the northern hemisphere, March 20th  marks the Vernal Equinox, the beginning of Spring.  This is one of the two days each year when the night and daylight hours are virtually equal.  The other happens in September.  This is a time of rebirth and celebration as the earth awakens from her winter slumber, flowers and trees bloom and the temperatures begin to warm the ground and our bodies.  Of course, all of us who suffer from allergies will be sneezing a bit more and in between the spring rains everything will be covered with pollen….but Skippity Doo Dah ~ it’s getting warm again folks!!    🙂 It all happens at 1:32 p.m. EDT….let the celebrations begin!!

    Outside My Window ~ 12.13.09

Outside My Window…is rain!  Yes, rain……cause everyone knows we could sure use it.  We were actually in danger of some of the larger puddles drying out!  🙂  Seriously though…….it is raining, again.  The forecast for today is to receive about a half an inch today.  In normal conditions, a half an inch wouldn’t really mean all that much…..in our current condition, it just adds to the saturation.  Right now at 9:30 a.m. we are at 56F, which is a great improvement over the 33F mornings we have been experiencing these last few days.  We won’t get much warmer today, only a high of 59F.  This temperature high will only last a couple of…

    Outside My Window ~ 11.08.2009

Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning ~ 59F with 62% humidity, skies are clear and a brilliant blue.  I believe we are in what is considered the peak season for the fall colors in our area.  I have noticed the colors on some trees are fading, but there is still much color and beauty out there.  I have been to different locations and taken many photos.  Hopefully I will be featuring some on here before too long. I am thinking…about how one tree can drop so many leaves.  My backyard is covered in leaves, covered.  But on another note, I found out what type of tree it is that drops…

    Outside My Window ~ 11.1.2009

Outside My Window…is a cloudy and windy morning.  Right now it is 59F with winds at about 17 mph.  We are at our high temp for the day right now.  It was cloudy and 80F yesterday.  Welcome to Virginia weather.  On the weather channel I noticed there is another low off the coast of North Carolina which means rain today and probably tonight….and the rain has arrived as well as the wind.  The rest of the week will be in the 60’s during the day, low 40’s at night.  The new image above was taken outside my patio doors actually…..I had not closed my blinds last night and caught this…
