    Outside My Window ~ 11.18.2012

Outside my window…is a cold and windy evening.  The day started out with blue skies but windy and cool…the clouds moved in and it ended with gray skies, windy and cold.  Right now we are about 54°F and the winds are at 16 mph with gusts up to 23 mph.  There is a coastal flood advisory in effect until 10:00 tomorrow morning.  No rain this weekend but there is some forecast for around midnight tonight with our low temperatures a couple of degrees cooler than we are right now.  Tomorrow will be about the same as today, a high in the mid 50’s and lows in the mid 40’s.  Thanksgiving…

    Outside My Window ~ 11.4.2012

Outside my window…is another cloudy Sunday.  Fortunately there is no rain in the forecast however we are expecting another nor’easter to develop off the North Carolina coast this coming week.  It is not expected to be near the strength Sandy  was but it will be enough of a nuisance with the cold winds and rain…rain we really don’t need at this point.  There are areas that are still quite saturated from the storm last week.  At 8:00 this evening we are currently at 39°F with calm winds.  We are basically at our forecast low for the night.  I probably should have brought some of my plants back into the house…

    Outside My Window ~ 8.26.2012

Outside my window…at 5:45 this evening it is pouring rain, thunder and lightening…..for the last hour.  We are currently at 75°F with a flood advisory until 7:00 this evening….and a pollen alert?  Seriously….pollen?  The rain is forecast to stop around 8:00 this evening.  There is a section of my street that is already flooding again. Yesterday morning we received three inches of hard rain in three hours and it flood a good deal of our region.  When I last checked early yesterday we had received 3.54 inches of rain….I don’t know what the final tally was for my area, let’s just say I have two very full rain barrels.  …

    Being Still

I sent out an email to family and friends recently and told them I was “amazed that it is already August…this year has just flown by as far as I’m concerned. It makes me almost dizzy when I look back at the year and remember certain events and highlights…and the summer, almost a blur! I have come to the conclusion that I don’t always have to be doing something….it is ok to be still. Sometimes it is nice to just sit…to look around and really see…to take a moment to listen to the sounds of life.  I’m practicing enjoying silence….enjoying just being still.” I was recalling a night recently when thoughts were…

    Antique In Black & White

In May 2012, there was an antique car show on the Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, Virginia.  I work not too far from there and walked over during my lunch hour to take a few photographs.  While post processing the images, I opted for black and white for the majority of the images.  Yesterday I included the few color images I processed, today  I am highlighting the black and white.  I was a little taken with the hood ornaments.  😀
