Thursday Thoughts
{Zinnia ~ before Hurricane Irene took them away} ~ Summer is officially over tomorrow….another one has come and gone…they seem to come and go much quicker as I have grown older….however I’m ready for fall. ~ My daughter’s car has been repaired and is back on the road again…happily the repairs were reasonable….as reasonable as car repairs can be I suppose. ~ Dinner at my mother’s house tonight was excellent…pork roast, boiled potatoes with baby limas….I ate to much. ~ We are in a heavy rain pattern for the next four days…currently under a flash flood watch until midnight Saturday….our forecast is for 4 or more inches of rain….the ground…

Things that made me smile this week…
Visitors….and color in the garden…. ….an aromatic harvest…. ….dusting off the old SLR to shoot some film…. ….loving antique ovenware ~ a gift from my great grandmother to my mother on her wedding day…. ….and finally, my 85mm….swoon…. What made you smile this week? 🙂

Outside My Window ~ 7.24.11
Outside my window…is a thunderstorm bringing wet, glorious rain and cooler temperatures. Key words there…cooler temperatures! You know it has been a hot one when I’m thinking 80°F at 10:15 at night is cool. We tied a record today with a high of 96°F….of course it felt like 112°F when you factored in the heat index. This past week has been beyond miserable…here and at many locations in the country. It probably wouldn’t have been so insanely hot if we had cooled down in the evening but on several evenings it was still above 90°F close to midnight. What is remarkable is how many states have had to post extreme heat warnings this past week. …

Things that made me smile this week…
First….but no photograph….a check from the insurance company for my daughter’s car that surpassed my wildest dreams. Sweet! Wispy clouds that dance in a blue sky…. ….followed by beautiful sunsets…. …and my sweet moon shot ~ I know I posted it the other day, but it did make me smile this week 🙂 …. …new beginnings… …and waiting for them to say hello…. …an early morning movie to see the epic ending of a wonderful series of movies with my sister…. ….followed by lunch at one of our favorite restaurants where we talked almost non stop about the movie. PS ~ the movie did not disappoint…I loved it, right down to the last minute.…

Things that made me smile this week…
First and foremost….I heard from the insurance company and the other person’s policy will be accepting the responsibility for these damages to my daughter’s car ~ wooo hoooo! 🙂 Now to hear from the claims adjuster…ever notice how insurance claims are always a game of hurry up and wait? There were other things to smile about as well…. My pineapple/coconut ice cream was delicious..and made without an ice cream maker. I will have the recipe tomorrow in Outside My Window…. …little birds that peep and pose…. ….afternoon rain showers that has made everything lush and green…. …roses peeking out through the middle of the red maple tree… …more farm fresh goodness from friends….…

Outside My Window ~ 5.15.11
Outside my window…is a Sunday that didn’t quite know what it wanted to do. Cloudy….rain….sun….cloudy….more rain….more sun. Currently, at 8:00 p.m., we are at 72°F with cloudy skies…there may even be a few rain drops falling as I sit here. Looks like we have had a little over a quarter inch of rain in the past 24 hours ~ I think most of that fell last night during some storms that moved through our area. When I went to bed it was raining quite hard with lots of lightening and thunder. It is quite humid outside right now, 78%…and if you are doing any type of activity out there right now, you know it. Outside My Window ~ 10.18.10
Outside My Window…is a nice cool evening as the sun sets. The temperature is about 62ºF with a slight breeze. The day was lovely…sunshine…tonight they are forecasting clouds and a slight chance of rain in the next couple of days ~ very slight. I noticed on my way in to work today that you can see a subtle change in the color of the leaves. The image I’m using as my fall Outside My Window photograph was taken last October at Lake Matoaka ~ located on the campus of the College of William and Mary. I think I may have to take another walk around campus again soon to get some…
