Road Trip ~ Conclusion

As I conclude the tale of our road trip, I wanted to share a few more random photos with you.  There was a full moon during my visit and try as I might, I was unable to get a photo of one that I was really happy with while it was dark….but I did get one early in the morning on the day we left…

I’m still a work in progress when it comes to moon shots, but I was pretty happy with this one.  🙂    There were also some pretty amazing sunsets….

There was a shopping day while we were there of course.  Seriously, have you ever known teen aged girls to go somewhere new and not want to check out the local mall?  The closest was about 20 miles away in Charlotte so off we went.  It had a very unique ceiling……

I loved our visit…so peaceful, so relaxing.  I loved the area……..but it was time to head home.   A few shots from the ride home…..

I have a confession……..I love rural decay.  Rural decay is old buildings, houses, farm buildings, silos or any other decaying building or sign.  These are often objects that have become part of the landscape. Even though it is old, run down, decaying……there is still something beautiful about it.  We ran across some of that as well.  I used CoffeeShop’s Attic Vintage Action on this image….

This next one caught my eye as we were heading out on our trip, but I didn’t stop then.  Coming home, I made a point to keep my eye out for it.  Located on Route 58, Stephens Grocery must have been the place to go at one time.  The vibrant colors are what caught my eye orginally…….

The old building, the old sign…..it all sat in the middle of not much.  I wondered how long it had been since it closed.  Does driving by this old store bring up memories for someone?  I know when I pass the old country store my grandparents once shopped at, I’m transported back in time…..back to a time long ago….when I was a child, a time with happy memories.  I guess that is why I like rural decay…….I like to imagine what may have been…once upon a time.
