Outside My Window ~ 3.21.10
Outside My Window…is a cloudy but warm evening. The clouds are building up with rain forecast for later tonight and tomorrow. We had the most incredible weekend. The first day of spring was beautiful….sunshine, blue skies and a temperature of 76ºF. It couldn’t have been a more perfect way to welcome in the first day of spring. Today was just as wonderful…..again with the sunshine, blue skies and high temperature of 76ºF. The clouds didn’t begin to build up until later in the afternoon. Rain is expected this evening, Monday and Tuesday….the temps won’t be as warm as this past weekend, but they won’t be too bad either.
I am thinking…I may be a little sore tomorrow. Yesterday the girls, Billy and I went to my mother’s house to do some yard work for her. We spent a couple of hours picking up branches, bagging leaves and pine needles, and weeding. This was my first day in some time working in the yard so I was a little sore this morning….and then I worked in my yard for several hours today. I may be sore….but it feels good to be outside and working again.
I am thankful for…finishing up the backyard today. For the life of me, I can not understand how there can be so many leaves from one tree. I was going to collect them last fall when I decided to leave them as ground cover over the winter. Turns out it was a good idea….very little weed infestation when I cleared them away today. I ended up gathering four huge trash bags of leaves…..my yard is tiny!! There was no way I would have believed there were that many leaves in this yard!
From the kitchen…will be broiled pork chops with some kind of fixings. I’m still debating what that will be. The kitchen has not been very active this weekend….but I did make beef tips and gravy over noodles last night and I’m happy to report, no ill effects from that meal!
I am going…to start my preparations for my upcoming trip to see my parents in Catawba, South Carolina. Yes indeed…..we do have a road trip coming up! We will be spending Easter with them this year. I’m really excited to see them, enjoy a relaxing visit and photograph the area at a different time of year. One place I’m going to revisit is the Landsford Canal State Park and the ancient cemetery I found. While I will miss the Rocky Shoal Spider Lily blooming, there is an active eagles nest in the park. I also hope to discover a few new places while I’m there.
I am hoping…to finally finish the VHS tape to DVD transfer tomorrow. I will be working from home tomorrow and with a few more to do, I can probably finish as I work. I had more tapes to transfer than I first thought. It has been going smoothly, just a bit time consuming.
I am hearing…a television program my youngest daughter is watching and the dryer running. Sunday seems to be the day for laundry. 🙂
Around the house…clothes to put away….paperwork to file…..and photos I’m still trying to get scanned. I really had a lot of film photos….again ~ many, many more than I thought I had.
Plans for the week include…continue working on my photos when time permits….time once again to de-clutter my work space. I don’t know how things get so cluttered in a short period of time ~ almost as if the stuff multiplies on its own!!
One of my favorite things…is the satisfaction you get after you accomplish a goal. My goal this weekend was to clean out the backyard ~ mission accomplished, and it feels great.
A few pictures I’d like to share with you…from our outing at PF Chang’s in Virginia Beach a couple of weeks ago. Here are a few shots of me and my girls, and my oldest with her boyfriend…..
And a view of the sunset from the parking garage as we were leaving……..

Wowzers. We have a lot in common today. I too am sore from yard/garden work! I am out of shape for that sort of thing. I too am traveling for Easter to see my parents (Virginia). I too need to do laundry today (but haven’t started yet.)
