Cardinal….the Virginia state bird.
Beautiful….red….sings the sweetest song.
But I got to tell you….
when they are young…..
this is a face only a mother could love….

Last year we had a male cardinal hanging around the house that never developed feathers on his head. Talk about freaky looking!!
