A Different View

I have mentioned the mad construction going on at work ~ right outside my office window.   The grassy area and metal grate you see in the above photo is now gone….as of Friday.  That is about the location of my window.   I work in the Finance Department…..and our office of three is set up bull pen style….our three desks share one large space.  The noise outside is annoying at best, but on Friday morning it was especially loud.  I was alone so turned around to take a look……

This is definitely a different view outside my window.  They were digging up the metal grate plus any and all ground around it….right up to the building.  I grabbed my camera (which goes every where I do by the way 🙂 ) and took these to show my work mates what they missed.  I couldn’t help but think my window would be a little boy’s dream to sit in front of and gaze out at all the full sized Tonka toy like machinery everywhere.  Me…not so much a dream of mine….and suddenly I wasn’t feeling so cozy sitting at my desk by the window.   Yesterday and today…..boring through the basement wall to the outside ~ right underneath our office.  It is like listening to a huge dentist drill…..All. Day. Long!   I can’t help but think there must have been a better time they could have done this (like this past Monday when we had the day off) instead of when the office is full of people trying to work and concentrate.

When I was 8 months pregnant with TMO, many years ago, the city dug up our street to put in a sewer line. Cartoon Girl (who was 14 months at the time) and I spent hours of our day sitting on the couch and watching the “Cheemes” dig up our street and our driveway. The workers were so sweet. They knew I was about to pop with this baby and one day the foreman came to the door to tell me that my driveway would be dug up, during the day, for the next 3 days and that if I needed to get to the hospital to have the baby that I was to come outside and tell them and they would take me in one of their trucks.

Just too sweet. But I didn’t have the baby until they were 4 houses down the street.

Oh dear, what a mess. I can’t imagine working with all that noise! It reminds me of the time we went to Bethany beach and stayed at a friend’s house. The first morning of our vacation, we awoke to horrible noise. It turned out they were replacing all of the plumbing pipes in the neighborhood that week. *sigh*
