Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 10.10.10

Outside My Window…is a beautiful afternoon.  Currently at 2:45 p.m. EDT, there are blue skies, sunshine, a slight breeze and 82ºF.  Yes….82ºF.  Tomorrows forecast is 89ºF with sunshine, blue skies and a slight breeze….as all the days will until Thursday when it will go down into the 70’s.  Come back Fall…I like that transition period between summer and winter when the weather cools down to just right and the nights are a bit chilly….excellent for sleeping.  I don’t want to go from summer into winter!

I am thinking…about my youngest and my Jeep.  Today is her big day….her day to finally drive without mom in the car.  She is a good driver, I can ride fairly comfortably with her now so I’m not but so worried.  I’m also thinking about my oldest today.  She is venturing out on her own….a place with friends to call their own.  Mixed emotions on this…I’m still processing.  I can say I do feel as if I have aged 20 years in the last week.

I am thankful…I was able to get together with my very good friend Shelly last night.  We met for dinner and ended up sitting for a couple hours as we talked non stop.  It was wonderful….very therapeutic….filled with many laughs….and very relaxing.

From my kitchen…is quite a few things today.  I made some bruschetta to put on some flat bread with cheese for lunch…..I pan grilled some chicken tenders to cut up into small pieces for grilled chicken Caesar wraps and/or salad for my lunch this week…..and to toss in some Alfredo sauce during the week for dinner.  And currently, there is a pot of chili on the stove that has been cooking most of the day.  Yes…yes….I know it is going to be hot today but I’m cooking chili ~ it is October and I’m annoyed summer came back without an invitation.

I am going…to kick back and relax this afternoon and evening….unplug and watch a movie perhaps.  I may try to finally finish my handbag camera bag….who knows, it is one of those days.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….the washer and dryer doing their tasks….an otherwise quiet house.

Around the house…laundry…..some things for my big girl ~ just in case she needs them…..happy birds out back at the feeders and the freshly filled bird bath.  I have some very brave chickadees around here.  One sat close by on the fence today as I filled the bird feeders and as I filled the pitcher with water from the rain barrel for the bird bath, he/she sat patiently on the bird bath for me to come fill it only to move at the last minute.

Plans for the week include…work…work…work….working from home and the dentist on the 12th……work.  Sigh ~ me thinks I need some fun in life.  🙂

One of my favorite things…as hard as it is sometimes, watching my girls reaching these major milestones in their lives.  There are moments when I want to wish to go back into time….when it was just me and my little girls spending a day on the beach…..going to the movies or stopping by Dairy Queen for a treat.  And other times I’m very proud of them and the beautiful young women they are becoming.  I can’t help but miss the little girls though.

A picture I’d like to share with you…is along the lines of my favorite thing…….watching Cailin getting ready to drive off for her first solo.  Please ignore the dirty windshield…..I suppose I could have cleaned it but no time for that….she had places to go, people to see.  I was actually lucky to get a photo.  🙂

Yes they do grow up. Hard to let go but in a few years, it will all seem like a new normal for them to be on their own. I know, don’t push Cailin out the door yet. I’m just sayin’… it will happen all too soon. But the relationships change even though they will always be your little girls. You end up being different, not necessarily better, just different. Enjoy it all.

I don’t even want to pretend I know how you feel with your older daughter moving out from home and your younger one driving solo. Be brave!

I feel already like time is flying so quickly with my little ones. Driving… I can’t imagine.
Its funny how the weather has been so summery lately. Love it. Warm days mixed with cool is the best in my opinion. 🙂
