Something New

I visited a unique little store during my recent trip to South Carolina earlier this month.  I was in search of a round butter dish that would hold the wonderful butter I pick up at a local store while I’m there.  Previously I had been using a small, round Tupperware container…I wanted something different…I wanted pottery.  Nina knew of a place that wasn’t too far from where we buy the butter however she had never been.  We decided to check it out one morning.

Blue Rose Polish Pottery  is a small retail warehouse tucked away in a small industrial type area not too far off Interstate 77 in Fort Mill, South Carolina ~ just south of Charlotte, North Carolina.  I can honestly say I had never heard of Polish pottery per se…but it was beautiful.

I soon discovered what I wanted…a French butter dish, another item I had never seen.  It wasn’t what I had in mind originally, but it soon became my heart’s desire.  🙂   We looked the store over, several times, and finally decided on the simple pattern you see above however they didn’t have a French butter dish in this pattern.  One of the staff, who by the way were all extremely friendly and helpful, offered to run to the other warehouse and pick up a couple for us.  Before we knew it, they were gone and back again with the dish.  It was perfect….and I loved the fact that I would be able to have fresh, soft butter without waiting for the butter to soften.

Here is how it works….you pack your softened butter in the lid and add a little water to the base.  The water creates an air tight seal which keeps oxygen away, which in turn keeps the butter fresh…just be sure to change the water regularly.  The butter is a perfect consistency for spreading.  When removed, the lid can set on your table and serve as a butter dish.   Perfection.

Blue Rose Polish Pottery did not ask me to write nor compensate me for this post.  I liked the store and thought I would share it with you.  They had many different styles of pottery….some had a “yowza” price but there were a lot of moderately priced items as well.  If you are looking for something unique or different, you may want to give their site a look see.
