Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 7.17.11

Outside my window…is the sun setting on another Sunday.  My how the weekends fly.  We had a couple of beautiful days but I didn’t get outside too much.  Right now it is 80°F with about 50% humidity…zero chance of rain this evening.  Our high was about 86°F today….not too bad for mid July.  We will be heating up to a high of 97°F by Thursday with a chance of thunderstorms for Wednesday and Thursday.  I noticed when I checked the Weather Channel there is a tropical storm brewing in the Atlantic…I probably should pay closer to the weather this time of the year.  It appears as if it will not be a bother to the east coast.  As the hurricane season progresses things will begin to percolate more and more.

I am glad…to have gotten a few things accomplished today.  While it required a lot of computer time, it was something I needed to take care of.  I had set up a Facebook page for Magikal Folk Photography but had done little to the page since its creation.  I don’t mind the work, in fact I love it.  However it can be time consuming ~ especially when I decide I’m not going in the direction I had in mind and the perfectionist in me makes me start again….several times.  🙂  I wish I had more time to work on photo templates and such because I do enjoy it.  I really hate it when my real job gets in the way of things I enjoy doing more….and fun.

I am thinking…about what a day I had yesterday.  It began with an early morning showing of the final Harry Potter movie followed by lunch at one of my favorite restaurants.  The movie was fabulous…I think it was the best one yet…and the company was even better.  My sister and I went together and my youngest joined us afterwards for lunch at Salsa’s Restaurant in City Center.  Perfect.

I am working on…see above. I am also working on getting together some props to use during my photo sessions.  I have gathered a few things but I’m looking for a vintage suitcase…one of the hard, outer body types.  Anyone have one (or two) laying around they would like to get rid of?  Doesn’t need to be in great condition either.   🙂

I am hoping…that my supervisor at work is feeling better.  Poor guy has had it rough the last week.  He was hospitalized for a possible heart attack a little over a week ago….turns out it wasn’t but now there are blood pressure issues.  And this past Friday he discovered he has pneumonia ~ wonder if he got it while he was hospitalized the previous weekend?  Anyhow…send Lou some good vibrations if you will…he is an excellent supervisor, a very good person and a great friend.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks ~ minus one that needs new batteries….the hum of the refrigerator….St. Elmo’s Fire DVD on television ~ remember the brat pack of the 80’s?….an otherwise quiet house.

Plans for the week include…working from home on Tuesday and Thursday….another dentist appointment on Thursday (groan)….the continuing task of organizing my photographs, both digital and printed….ordering some prints for family members that have requested them ~ far too long ago I’m afraid 😐  …..so if you asked, they will be coming fairly soon.

One of life’s little pleasures…is sitting in a movie theater anxiously waiting for the start of a film you have been waiting for and feeling like a little kid again.  I had my popcorn, my drink and my peanut M & M’s….life was good.

From my camera…is a couple of photographs my sister gave me an idea to take yesterday.  When I was shooting the theater sign as we left the movies yesterday she suggested I come back later that evening and get one with the lights on.  Excellent idea…so I followed up on it.  These are some of my first night time images (not counting moon shots) and I think I could become a little bit hooked on this.  You may be seeing more of these….

Fantastic night shot of the theater. I love the color of the sky.
I hope you found a vintage suitcase. I haven’t seen on of those types in years. I remember those suitcase from when I was a kid.
