Outside My Window ~ 11.6.2011
Outside my window…is the first evening after daylight savings time ended. It is about ten minutes until eight but it feels much later than that. It has been dark forever….how can it not even be 8:00 yet?!?! It is currently 48°F with calm winds. Calm winds were not the norm around here this past weekend. The last nor’easter that visited and quickly pulled away on Friday left a path of heavy winds all day Saturday. Today wasn’t as bad but still breezy….especially near the James River late this afternoon. We warmed up to about 60°F today which is close to average for the area. Looks like we will stay in the mid sixties until Friday when the forecast calls for a high of only 53°F. I don’t mind this kind of weather…it is nice during the day and while a bit chilly at night, we haven’t had a hard frost yet.
I am thinking…about how excited I am to have reconnected with someone I haven’t talked to in years…more than I can even remember right now. We met when we worked together in Denver and became close friends. We managed to stay in touch after we both left the area but after awhile life got busy and we lost touch. I can’t wait to get caught up with what has been going on with her. 🙂
I am thankful…that my stepfather made it through his emergency hip surgery without complications. He fell late yesterday afternoon at home and was rushed to the hospital when he complained of the pain. The hospital discovered he had fractured his hip after taking x-rays. After a restless night he was moved to ICU when he experienced some complications early this morning and was scheduled for surgery this afternoon. Last update he was resting in his ICU room and doing well….and my mom was at home resting as well.
From my kitchen…is not so much today. I have spent most of the day away today but yesterday it was bustling. I was busy blanching and freezing some broccoli and asparagus I had bought…made some turkey sausage…and rearranged the counter tops. Of course I put the counter tops back like they were which makes me think it was an incredible waste of time…but it is what it is I guess. 🙂 New recipe next week I think.
I am creating…my list of ideas for Christmas this year. I have some good ideas rolling around in my head now I just need to get myself and my thoughts together so I can bring them to fruition.
I am going…to begin work on the maternity photo shoot I finished this evening. We started last Sunday and the finale was this evening. Once again she had to brave some chilly temperatures and a bit of a stiff breeze off the river but we managed to get it all done. Now I need to get down to processing the images.
I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks ~ all with the correct time I might add 🙂 ….the program “The Walking Dead” on television ~ a program that isn’t for the faint of heart by the way…there are some parts I could do without to be honest, but I like the story so far.
Plans for the week include…work from home on Tuesday….stop by the hospital and visit a special patient there….process the maternity photos.
One of life’s little moments…is waking up and realizing it isn’t as late as you thought it was …because you didn’t set the clocks back the night before you were able to roll over and sleep just a little bit longer. 🙂
From my camera…scenes from my afternoon….
