Outside My Window ~ 10.14.2012
Outside my window…is a beautiful, fall day ~ albeit a warm one. The temperature is 71°F at 12:50 p.m. and it is suppose to get a bit higher than I would prefer. The high is forecast to be 75°F today, blue skies, mostly sunny and a very low chance of rain. Our next chance of rain is tomorrow evening with a scattered chance of thunderstorms ~ and a forecast high of 77°F for the day. We will slip back into the low to mid 60’s for a couple of days and then back into the mid 70’s. These roller coaster temperatures have been happening this past week during the day but the evenings have been staying relatively cool…guess seasonally cool is a better way to describe it. I’m not a big fan of miserable rain and cold, but I would like to experience an actual winter this year. Last year was so warm, so unseasonable….it felt odd and left me feeling ~ well the only way I can think of how to describe it is feeling off balance. I like to experience the four seasons….we don’t usually experience them as drastically as some but we do generally experience a change.
I am thinking…about the return of my favorite television show this evening. Yea Baby ~ The Walking Dead is back tonight at 9:00! Based on what I saw on the extended trailer this afternoon, it will not disappoint! 🙂
I am glad…my sister was able to come with me yesterday for the 5th Annual Kelby Photo Walk at Fort Monroe in Hampton and then have dinner with me afterwards while we watched a movie together. It was a beautiful evening ~ clear skies, no rain ~ as compared to last year when we had overcast skies and had to wait out a fairly substantial rain shower that passed over head. This year no rain but also no double rainbow or dramatic clouds for our background….although we did get some good shots. We also discovered a pet cemetery…which immediately made me think of the Stephen King book and then the movie of the same name and then I decided it was time to get out of there. 🙂 I’m also glad I was fortunate enough to win the ticket in the College lottery that enabled me to go see the Dalai Lama this past Wednesday. It was an incredible experience and one I won’t forget anytime soon. I hope to do a post on his lecture very soon.
From my kitchen…was taco cups for dinner after the photo walk last night….and the best homemade bread I have ever made. It was perfection ~ and the funny thing is I thought I had messed it up because I mixed up a couple of the measurements. But it worked…beautifully! So much so that I made a note of my mess up on the recipe so I would be sure to do it again. It is not often this happens and such a nice surprise when it does.
I am hoping…that the strange, fog horn like noise coming from under the hood of my car is nothing serious. It started recently and has gotten progressively worse….fog horn is about the closest thing I can come to describing it. 😐 I will find out this week when I take it into the shop for the annual inspection and a look see.
I am hearing…clothes tumbling in the dryer….agitating in the washer…the ticking of my many clocks…Walking Dead marathon on television (but of course).
A recap of last week…was just the one Wordless Wednesday featuring the photograph of the Dalai Lama.
Plans for the week include…working from home on Tuesday….taking my car to the shop prior to starting work to see if we can discover where the fog horn is and hopefully fix it….preparing for a photo shoot for the weekend.
One of life’s little pleasures…spending quality time with my sister.
From my camera…this isn’t the best shot of the Dalai Lama that I got but this is one when he first came on stage. Check out all the cell phones and cameras in the audience just in those first few rows. 🙂
