A Face Only A Mother Could Love
Cardinal….the Virginia state bird. Beautiful….red….sings the sweetest song. But I got to tell you…. when they are young….. this is a face only a mother could love…. Please excuse image quality ~ not one of my better shots. I think I was a little freaked out when I saw this! 🙂

Lack of Sleep
My lack of sleep last night is creating a problem with my post this evening….my brain can’t think. I don’t know why I couldn’t sleep last night, too much on my mind creating too much brain chatter I suppose. I will see you all tomorrow ~ hopefully rested. 🙂

Tropical Soup
The heat and humidity these past few days has been brutal. This is typical weather for this area, but generally a little later in the season. I noticed that Sunday was a good ten degrees above the norm. I can usually deal with the heat…but when you add a good dose of humidity, it turns the air into a tropical soup. Miserable. I spent a good part of this evening watering my plants and flowers with rain barrel water. I used a decent amount of the water reserves this evening…..I hope we get some rain soon. It may cool things off. Thanks to Shadowhouse Creations for the free textures used on the wind chimes image ~ 1000…

Pause and Remember
Don’t forget to take time to pause and remember why this is a holiday.

Check Me Out
In my quest to archive all my old photos, I ran across this one. This was taken May 20, 1972 as I modeled the graduation cap and gown I would be wearing for my graduation in June of that year ~ 38 years ago this year. Back in the day you didn’t buy a flimsy cap and gown….this was the real deal and quite heavy. I remember I wore a pair of cut off shorts and a halter top underneath it to the graduation ceremony. We weren’t required to dress up like they are now….of which I am relieved because it was quite warm. Our graduation was held outside in the football…

Down On The Farm
I think I have mentioned my new rain barrel once or twice right? 🙂 Well the class to build this wonder was held at Bluebird Gap Farm in Hampton, Virginia. They had some every day farm critters so after our rain barrel adventure, I took my camera and snapped a few. The white peacock, before showtime……. you saw the after, but just in case you missed it…. He, or she, calmly stepped off the stump….walked up to where I was standing and viola! And modeled, twirling several times before they let out this bizarre type call, folded the feathers back into place and walked back to the stump. Kind of surreal actually….but so glad…

Well….now what?
Has this ever happened to you? I had a plan….I had a post……and then I didn’t. So I’m sitting here thinking….now what?

That Was Quick
Clouds were building all afternoon and into the evening….no rain as of yet. I stopped by the boat docks to get a couple of photos on my way home. I’m posting this at home this evening. The most amazing thing happened when I got up this morning. I thought I would check the phone line, you know ~ just in case by some off chance it was working again and low and behold, it was! The beautiful sound of dial tone burring in my ears. So I have to wonder ~ did Verizon fix the problem….or did it fix itself? The last I heard was June 3rd……no call to check to…

Say It Isn’t So….
A possible subtropical system developing off the coast…say it isn’t so! I’m really not ready for the season to begin….not just yet please. It feels subtropical outside. I went outside this morning to do a few things and I can honestly say I was glad I didn’t have to work outside today….it was miserable. The air was quite thick and heavy all day and continues into this evening. The air is filled with the intoxicating scent of jasmine tonight. The bushes are in full bloom, their flowers are filling the night air. Thunderstorms are expected later tonight ~ hopefully not the crashing and exploding kind. I wouldn’t mind a little rumbling thunder with…

Spinning
I didn’t realize it was quite so late….11:00 now…5:30 comes early. I have experienced some head spinning today ~ it is puzzling. I think I will go to bed now and hope it goes away.
