The Coleman Bridge
On the eastern coast of Virginia, in the area that is considered the Coastal Plain, there are four peninsulas. The first is called the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It is separated from the mainland by the Chesapeake Bay. Bordered by the bay on the west, the Atlantic on the east and the Maryland Eastern Shore on the north, this peninsula is generally visited by traveling via the 17 mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The other three peninsula’s are the Northern Neck, the Middle Peninsula and one known simply as the Peninsula. The Northern Neck is located between the Potomac and the Rappahannock Rivers; the Middle Peninsula is located between the Rappahannock and the York Rivers; and the Peninsula is…

Snow & The Parkway
I posted this image earlier today when I wrote about snow on the parkway. After I got home this evening, I reprocessed it using a “recipe” and a texture from Shadowhouse Creations. I applied “Frost” from his Heavenly Vintage Texture Set at 100% linear burn…..I like this result better than the first. I also used the same for the following photos…. This gives you an idea of what the Colonial Parkway is like. It is a three lane, unmarked road with the center lane used for passing in allowed areas ~ which there are not too many. It is a really beautiful drive….a nice way to begin and end your day. 🙂

Snow
Skippity Doo Dah…..we got snow last night as we slept! They said it would, but I didn’t believe it. Sure, it has been cold enough….but the air has also been very dry. Apparently not dry enough because the stars aligned, the conditions worked and we awoke to snow. 🙂 Not much mind you…..maybe an inch to an inch and a half. But enough to warrant a two hour delay at my daughter’s school today. By the time we got out on the streets, they were clear for the most part. After I dropped my daughter, I was off to work. I took a moment to stop on the Colonial Parkway this morning…

Run Run Running
Some of you may or may not know this, but I’m a runner. I’m a morning runner…….I get up bright and early, especially on the days I work, and run. Rain or shine, cold or hot, I run….and I love it. I didn’t start until I was 43, but I was immediately hooked. There is nothing like it. Sadly, I haven’t been able to run lately. My foot is giving me problems again. Weird thing is, it doesn’t bother me when I run ~ it is walking on it afterwards I have to worry about. So I have been giving it a break lately…..let it rest and heal. I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis. Here…

Something wicked….
On this particular evening, as the sun was setting behind the clouds, the sky had an eerie kind of glow to it. I was at my mother’s house and snapping a few photos here and there when I walked by her now bare walnut tree and noticed this shot. What I didn’t notice until afterwards was the group of birds flying towards me. I noticed them when I lowered the camera….I don’t remember seeing them prior to taking the photo, but there they were. Large birds, normally gulls, are not unusual around my mother’s house. She lives near a large river, which feeds into the Chesapeake Bay. There are vultures that hang around that…

The Cards
The Cards….some say they tell all….past, present, future. If you had the chance, would you want to know? Your future? Would you want to know how your life was to unfold….what…..when……how? Imagine …. with this knowledge you could change the course of your destiny, insure happiness for all your loved ones. Or are you a whatever will be, will be individual?

A New Year
The year 2009 is a memory. Was it a good year….a bad year….many people will be debating that question in the months and possibly years to come. Now there is a New Year…a new decade…a new beginning. Each new year brings a clean slate ~ a chance to start fresh, begin new things, forget bad habits, improve yourself and your life. Resolutions are made and everything is within reach on this first day of the shiny New Year. I enjoy numerology so on this first day of January, I determined what my personal year is and its influence. In numerology, the world turns in nine year cycles….in 2010, my personal year…

I Can’t Be 55!
Yesterday was my birthday. I was a first born child and a Christmas baby. My mother always made sure my birthday was recognized on one of the largest gift giving days of the year. I had Christmas presents and birthday presents under our tree, and I had a birthday cake after Christmas dinner. The first thing that went through my sleepy mind after I opened my eyes yesterday was “I can’t be 55”. Yesterday was a day I had been both dreading and looking forward to. How can you dread Christmas Day? Turning 55 on the same day, some weird emotions happening inside. I can’t be 55 because ~ I still…
