    Outside My Window ~ 9.9.2012

Outside my window…is a dark and chilly evening.  Well, chilly might be a stretch but compared to recent evenings, it is chilly.  Right now, at 9:00 p.m., it is 66°F with clear skies.  Our forecast low for the night is 61°F and continued clear skies.  We did get some stormy weather last night when the cool front moved through….yesterday was hot and humid, today was cool, sunny and beautiful.  While there were some white, puffy clouds throughout the day, we reached a high of 78°F.  The next ten days have been forecast to be much the same as today and this evening ~ a teaser for fall or the new…

    Outside My Window ~ 9.2.2012

Outside my window…is another rainy Sunday evening.  Rain…more rain.  It appears as if Isaac remnants  have finally moved far enough east to impact our area.  I saw a fairly confusing forecast earlier this week that said part of the remnants would split from the main storm and move east {what we are experiencing now} and the rest would follow {expected tomorrow}.  Our forecast is for scattered storms for the week.  I’m not sure how much I believe them….last Sunday it said we would be in the mid 80’s this past week…they were wrong, it was more like the very high 80’s and low 90’s with a heavy dollop of humidity…

    Outside My Window ~ 8.26.2012

Outside my window…at 5:45 this evening it is pouring rain, thunder and lightening…..for the last hour.  We are currently at 75°F with a flood advisory until 7:00 this evening….and a pollen alert?  Seriously….pollen?  The rain is forecast to stop around 8:00 this evening.  There is a section of my street that is already flooding again. Yesterday morning we received three inches of hard rain in three hours and it flood a good deal of our region.  When I last checked early yesterday we had received 3.54 inches of rain….I don’t know what the final tally was for my area, let’s just say I have two very full rain barrels.  …

    Outside My Window ~ 8.19.2012

Outside my window…is the close on another weekend.  We are over half way through August and closing in on Labor Day….soon it will be Fall and before we know it, winter and the end of the year.  I know I have said it before but I can’t recall having this feeling that the year has just zoomed by.  Today was a rainy day….the morning started out nice enough with the temperature around 73°F when I went out for my morning run/walk at 8:30.  It was sunny to begin with and the clouds began to move over near the end of the walk.  Not too long after the rain began and…

    Being Still

I sent out an email to family and friends recently and told them I was “amazed that it is already August…this year has just flown by as far as I’m concerned. It makes me almost dizzy when I look back at the year and remember certain events and highlights…and the summer, almost a blur! I have come to the conclusion that I don’t always have to be doing something….it is ok to be still. Sometimes it is nice to just sit…to look around and really see…to take a moment to listen to the sounds of life.  I’m practicing enjoying silence….enjoying just being still.” I was recalling a night recently when thoughts were…
