Outside My Window ~ 11.6.2011
Outside my window…is the first evening after daylight savings time ended. It is about ten minutes until eight but it feels much later than that. It has been dark forever….how can it not even be 8:00 yet?!?! It is currently 48°F with calm winds. Calm winds were not the norm around here this past weekend. The last nor’easter that visited and quickly pulled away on Friday left a path of heavy winds all day Saturday. Today wasn’t as bad but still breezy….especially near the James River late this afternoon. We warmed up to about 60°F today which is close to average for the area. Looks like we will stay in…

Today was his birthday…
Life Lessons You may have thought I didn’t see, Or that I hadn’t heard, Life lessons that you taught to me, But I got every word. Perhaps you thought I missed it all, And that we’d grow apart, But Dad, I picked up everything, It’s written on my heart. Without you, Dad, I wouldn’t be The woman I am today; You built a strong foundation No one can take away. I’ve grown up with your values, And I’m very glad I did; So here’s to you, dear father, From your forever grateful kid. By Joanna Fuchs Happy Birthday Dad….I hope your day was an amazing one….I love you! ♥

Another November 2011 Free Desktop Calendar
I wanted to offer an option to the free desktop calendar I posted yesterday. This is the Crim Dell Bridge, located on the campus of William and Mary. Select a link below, right click on the image and select “set as desktop background”. Sizes are approximate and may take a few minutes to open: 900 x 600 1024 x 768 1280 x 1024 1600 x 900 Fingers crossed these links work without a problem…. 🙂

November 2011 Free Desktop Calendar
{Update} I was really unhappy with this image when I got to work today and checked them out on my monitors. I don’t know what I did when I re-sized this but they didn’t pass. I have removed the texture and replaced the links. I also decided that while I like the image, I wanted something different for fall so I created one using the Crim Dell bridge. I’m not sure if it is too busy for a desktop….but click here if you want to download that image. I suppose there will always be a kink or two until I get use to doing these calendars. 🙂 Lake Matoaka, College…

What I have learned from watching scary movies…
:: It is never a good idea to get out of your car in the dark to check out a body laying on a dark and desolate road. Never. :: People who move in quick, jerky motions and flicker on and off….not the kind of folks you want to spend much time with because they are generally ghosts of some sort. :: Towns that appear deserted when they are normally bustling with people and activity should be avoided at all costs. :: Same goes for deserted houses…especially if it looks like someone hasn’t lived there and forever and the last resident was a crazed killer. :: Run down hotels in…

Outside My Window ~ 10.30.2011
Outside my window…is a cold, dark night. We have weathered through our first big nor’easter of the season ~ nope, no snow for us ~ just rain , wind and not problems. It did get cold last night with a low of 38°F…tonight’s forecast is at 37°F. Currently we are at 41°F and the winds are calm. Tomorrow is calling for partly cloudy with a high of 58°F. We will warm gradually throughout the week up to the mid 60’s by next weekend. The leaves are beginning to turn nicely in the area…I’m thinking I will make another trip to Lake Matoaka on campus to see if I can get…

South of the Border
When I was a little girl, we would drive from Florida to North Carolina to visit my grandparents. There was one place I can remember I always looked forward to seeing whenever we took these trips…a place that held treasures to behold. You would begin to see the signs miles away….and sometimes there would be lots of signs all in a row…all of them beckoning you to visit. I can remember getting so excited as they counted down the miles for you….I was reliving those moments this time as we got closer until we finally saw it… I had decided we were going to have lunch when we stopped…and we…

The Trip Home
After our brief vacation in Florida, it was time to drive home. My oldest daughter was the designated photographer with my point and shoot camera. While she is the love of my life…I didn’t include the many, many, many photographs she took of herself on the post today. 🙂 Next….we go South of the Border…

Indian River ~ Florida
The final images from my trip to Florida earlier this month. One last look at the Atlantic then on to the river. After spending some time at the beach and shopping, we made our way back to the house in time to walk to one of the piers not to far from my parents house. I wanted to watch the sunset over the Indian River. We weren’t the first ones there…. According to a local, he is here every night at sunset…waiting…. …watching…. …enjoying the show with the rest of us. 🙂 While we wait…a view to the South of us…a storm appears to be building here and to our…
