Heartbroken
Remember this….. and this…. ….it now looks like this…. …and this… Thankfully she wasn’t in the vehicle. She was the victim of a hit and run while her car was parked in front of a friends house last night. She heard a noise, looked out the window and saw another car’s front end sitting in her trunk…she ran outside just in time to watch them back out of the trunk and drive away. They may have fled the scene of the accident but they thoughtfully left their license plate. The police report was filed last night…the insurance company has been called…the vehicle was towed to the body shop to await its fate….and my big girl ~ she is…

Outside My Window ~ 6.26.11
Outside my window…is our first full weekend of summer. It is about 12:45 and we are currently at 82°F with partly cloudy skies. Humidity is relatively low for this area, only 53% right now. The chance for rain is also low at 20%, however there are quite a few clouds that have built up since I woke up this morning and I have seen some of the strongest storms occur when the percentage has been that low before. Sometimes I think the weather forecast is just a crap shoot and/or luck. The rest of the week looks like a clone of today, low 80’s with our greatest chances for rain on Monday and Tuesday. I…

Things that made me smile this week
Looking through my old photographs…. and discovering some I had forgotten about…. Discovering I will have two more tomatoes ready to eat very soon… ….and harvesting some herbs. Enjoying my first tomato of the season with some basil from my garden… two farm fresh eggs from my friend scrambled with feta cheese and basil…heavenly. The tomato was wonderful! Welcoming another summer solstice… What made you smile this week? 🙂

Friday Flashback
A look at the Grand Tetons….as I saw them 32 years ago. My old, scanned photos don’t really do them justice…. They literally take your breath away. This next image features a portion of the Snake River. A wonderful vacation….Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and the icing on the cake…. …..white water rafting down a section of the Snake River. It was amazing! If you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it. You won’t regret it. 🙂

A Summer Solstice Sunset
I try to take a photograph of the sunset on the Summer Solstice… …the evening clouds almost ruined it tonight.

Outside My Window ~ 6.19.11
Outside my window…is a cloudy, humid morning. At 10:30 and we are at 75°F with 84% humidity and little to no wind at the moment. One word…humid. The forecast high is for a chance of thunderstorms and a high of 84°F. I was checking out the Weather Channel online a few minutes ago and it appears as if a large storm system is moving east towards us…I suppose our storms will come from a combination of that and our typical afternoon heating plus humidity that produces some storms. I’m not so fond of warm, humid weather but my tomato plants seem to love it…they are growing like weeds. I am glad…that school…

Things That Made Me Smile This Week
Visiting with my niece and her family while they were here on vacation… More bee action on the lavender… Friends who provide farm fresh goodness in pretty baskets… Enjoying a rainbow that followed a rain storm… …which was followed by amazing blue skies…. …and a prettiful sunset! 🙂 But the biggest smile of all….my first red tomato!! Sweet! What made you smile this week? 🙂
