White
Earlier last month, I decided I was going to participate in several online photo challenges during the coming year. I happily discovered the Blogger’s Community Photo Challenge the other day. The theme for this challenge is white. My submission is one I took the Sunday after Christmas during our major snow storm. If you are interested in participating, follow the link for more information. Submissions for this challenge are due January 7th.

Outside My Window ~ 1.2.2011
Outside My Window…is heavy rain and gray skies. At 11:00 this morning, we have a temperature of 57°F….and after weeks of brrrr chilly weather, that feels quite toasty outside. I took the outside Christmas lights down this morning….fortunately before the rains came. The snow had finally melted off of the bushes so I could see where they were. It is amazing what a difference a week can make…last Sunday at this time there was heavy snow, white out conditions and a temperature of 28°F….today I’m walking around outside in sandals and short sleeves before the rain came. And rain….yea, we can use that after the 14 inches of snow we got…

I Did It!
Burning a bayberry candle from tip to socket puts luck in the home and gold in the pocket! Tradition holds that when one receives a bayberry candle as a gift from a friend, then burns the candle on New Year’s Eve (allowing the candle to burn itself out), then one will receive good luck, good health and much wealth. I did it….one year…..365 days! I completed my task ~ a post a day for an entire year. I started last year, Jan 1st, and for each day thereafter a post was up on this blog. Sometimes very early in the morning, sometimes just beating the clock that night. But there…

Heavenly Cream
As I have mentioned several times recently, I’m attempting to catch up on some unfinished items. One of those items is posting recipes for goodies I have featured in a previous post. This heavenly delight is a giant cream puff….and yes, it is delicious! Want to make one for yourself….check out the recipe here ~ and do enjoy! 🙂

Feeding
At the height of the snow storm this past Saturday (December 26th), I piled up pillows, grabbed a blanket and made a comfortable spot for myself on the couch and watched out my window for visitors to a seed bell I had hanging in my red maple tree. This is a series of photos I took of a cardinal feeding. Unfortunately the photographs are shot through the window and a screen so they are not tack sharp….but I liked them anyway. I am seriously considering removing the screen from that window though…just in case. 🙂

A Foot Or More
It began to snow around 3:30 Christmas day….snowed all that night and all the next day….hard. I haven’t seen it snow like this in quite some time. Today we woke up to almost blue skies and wind…..and this…. And this is what it looked like after a few hours of digging…..I needed a nap ~ and some defibrillators. 🙂

Outside My Window ~ 12.26.10
Outside My Window…snow, snow and more snow! What began as a White Christmas yesterday afternoon has turned into quite an event today. It has been snowing since about 3:30 yesterday but very hard since early this morning. It looks as if the neighborhood trees have all been flocked with several inches of powdery, white snow. I can’t see my front steps…it is quite deep outside. The Weather Channel estimates we have about 6 1/2 inches right now ~ I think locally there may be more around here. I do live in the rain/snow/ice belt of the peninsula so that is a possibility. When I say I live in the rain/snow/ice belt it means…

The One Where I Almost Choked To Death
This is me….celebrating my birthday and Christmas many years ago. I’m a Christmas baby. Earlier today, my older brother would say to me “wouldn’t it be weird if you died on the day you were born?” He had a reason for saying this to me. Let me go back a few hours….to around 1:30 when we sat down to Christmas dinner. I was sitting at the “adult” table with my sister, her husband, my younger brother, his wife and my step father. Dinner is served….everyone is digging in…and the conversation is flowing. I can’t tell you what we were discussing because a few bites into my meal I suddenly was having a…
