Experimenting
I’m fascinated with HDR photos. For those that may not be familiar with what exactly that is…..check out this Flickr group to see some of the many photos posted on there. The definition of HDR as per Wikipedia….. In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminance’s between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wider dynamic range allows HDR images to more accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight.…

Outside My Window ~ 6.6.10
Outside My Window…is unbelievably hot and sunny! When I walked outside early this morning I couldn’t believe how hot it was. Currently it is 86ºF but feels like 93ºF with 64% humidity at 11:00 this morning. Our high today is suppose to reach 95ºF. I’m not surprised we have a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and this evening….I will be surprised if nothing materializes because it feels quite tropical outside. I also noticed our area is a 3 on the Weather Channel TorCon index….so that means we have a 30% chance of a tornado in this area. Fortunately, they are not the norm for us. I am thinking…how many more critters am I…

A Face Only A Mother Could Love
Cardinal….the Virginia state bird. Beautiful….red….sings the sweetest song. But I got to tell you…. when they are young….. this is a face only a mother could love…. Please excuse image quality ~ not one of my better shots. I think I was a little freaked out when I saw this! 🙂

This Moment #4
{this moment} A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you’re inspired to do the same, leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all to find and see. (copyright SouleMama 2010) . Inspired by SouleMama and passed on to me by CoffeeShop Free Actions….why not leave your moment there as well.

Lack of Sleep
My lack of sleep last night is creating a problem with my post this evening….my brain can’t think. I don’t know why I couldn’t sleep last night, too much on my mind creating too much brain chatter I suppose. I will see you all tomorrow ~ hopefully rested. 🙂

Tropical Soup
The heat and humidity these past few days has been brutal. This is typical weather for this area, but generally a little later in the season. I noticed that Sunday was a good ten degrees above the norm. I can usually deal with the heat…but when you add a good dose of humidity, it turns the air into a tropical soup. Miserable. I spent a good part of this evening watering my plants and flowers with rain barrel water. I used a decent amount of the water reserves this evening…..I hope we get some rain soon. It may cool things off. Thanks to Shadowhouse Creations for the free textures used on the wind chimes image ~ 1000…

Virginia Beach
This is a shot I took of Virginia Beach, circa 1978. It was somewhere between 75th and 80th Street area. This isn’t my beach of choice in the summer anymore. Too crowded…..too commercial. I like to remember it when I was in my late teens, early 20’s. Cold ones at Chicho’s and Lee’s. Dancing at Peabodys. We would ride up and down the strip… otherwise known as Atlantic Avenue. I hear you can’t do that any more… there are signs posted everywhere….. No Fun Allowed.

Pause and Remember
Don’t forget to take time to pause and remember why this is a holiday.

Outside My Window ~ 5.30.10
Outside My Window…is a warm, hazy morning. Currently it is 78ºF with 76% humidity and partly sunny skies. The forecast high for today is 91ºF with a threat of thunderstorms. This heat combined with high humidity equals a soupy enough mixture to create afternoon thunderstorms. For Memorial Day they are forecasting a high of 94ºF with sunny skies….sounds like a perfect beach day although I probably will not be going. I still enjoy the beach but I don’t enjoy the heat and humidity so much any more. 🙂 I am thinking…about a site I witnessed last night with my neighbor as we stood outside and talked. It was around dusk….the sun…

Check Me Out
In my quest to archive all my old photos, I ran across this one. This was taken May 20, 1972 as I modeled the graduation cap and gown I would be wearing for my graduation in June of that year ~ 38 years ago this year. Back in the day you didn’t buy a flimsy cap and gown….this was the real deal and quite heavy. I remember I wore a pair of cut off shorts and a halter top underneath it to the graduation ceremony. We weren’t required to dress up like they are now….of which I am relieved because it was quite warm. Our graduation was held outside in the football…
