Outside My Window ~ 2.7.10
Outside My Window…is sunshine and blue skies at 8:15 a.m.. The temperature this morning is 24ºF and a breeze creating a wind chill of 13ºF. Our high today is forecast at 35ºF with sunny skies. Oh, and of course……there is snow and ice. Yes, another fun filled weekend of winter weather. Actually this weekend was different from the last….we got more rain and sleet prior to the snow this time around. The snow was much wetter than last weekend which resulted in more objects being covered either fully or partially with snow. Some of the trees are quite beautiful with the snow and ice stuck to the branches. Fortunately there is…

Snowy Saturday
The day started out with some sleet which soon turned in to a very wet snowfall. The snow ended earlier this evening and the temperatures have dropped considerably. Prior to the snow, I refilled the bird feeders around my house. I liked this photo of the male and female cardinals at the feeder and the little visitor on the pole. So it begins again….
Yet another coastal storm is making its way up the mid-Atlantic coast. I knew when summer ended, our fall and winter season was going to be an active one. I don’t know how or what made me feel that…maybe the way summer ended, or the way fall began…but I just knew. I didn’t however realize just how active it would be. It seems the coastal storms, or nor ‘easters as they are called, have been coming one right after another. There is still plenty of snow from the last storm, which is melting quickly in the rain tonight. The ground is thoroughly saturated….I don’t see how it can hold another drop…

As The Day Ends
I posted a photo of this creek here prior to the snowfall this past weekend. We all know I have a thing for sunsets so when I saw this shot, I couldn’t resist. 🙂

Wednesday Evening Sunset
Sometimes you just have to stop and enjoy the view!

No Shadows Here
The groundhogs in this area will be shadow free today…..there is no sunshine only clouds that will bring us more moisture.

That was then…..

Outside My Window ~ 1.31.10
Outside My Window…is sunshine, beautiful blue skies…..and oh yea ~ lots of snow!! I took a ruler out this morning in the front, 6 inches. But I have to agree with neighbor, I think there was more yesterday before the sleet came in the early evening. It did sleet for a little while, then we got maybe another inch on top of that. If you walk out on the roadway, you can hear the ice crunching underneath your feet. Authorities are still recommending everyone to stay off the roadways unless you need to travel. I have no need to travel that badly! Many places were closed yesterday, including the mall…

Dead On
The weather forecast was dead on today. It began snowing early this morning, around 2 or 3 a.m., and has been going strong ever since. We are at 26ºF at 9:30 this morning with a wind chill of 13ºF. The snow is supposedly falling at about one to two inches per hour…….I don’t know how much we have thus far, but they are predicting heavy snow all day and into the night with a final tally of about 10 to 12 inches for our region. It is fairly windy outside right now and the snow is very fine and powdery. It is snowing pretty heavily as I take these, but you wouldn’t know…

Once Upon A Time In The Snow
This is an image of the girls playing in the snow on January 3rd, 2002….during a snow storm much like the one that is suppose to arrive tonight. This was taken with an old digital point and shoot camera a friend let me use. No frills on this camera ~ I think it may have even been one of the first ones out when it was new! I wonder if they will let me get another photo like this tomorrow during the storm? 🙂
