    Yet Another Step….

My big girl took yet another step towards becoming an adult…..she finally found her first job.  I was worried about her getting one actually…..I didn’t let her work while she was in school, I thought it was more important she concentrate on her school work rather than worry with an after school job.  When she graduated, she decided she didn’t want to go back to school right away, but wanted to work and get some “real world” experience.  While I would like to see her further her education, it is ultimately her decision and I will respect whatever she decides.  I have given her my opinion on the matter, now…

    It’s Done.

Finally, the web site….it’s done.  I published it this afternoon.  There are still a few things I would like to change, but that can be done with regular maintenance.  Basically, what you see is what it will be….more inventory to come once the curing, mixing and stirring  is complete.   Visit me here ~ let me know what you think.  Thank you for putting up with my constant chatter these past few months about getting it done….hmmmmm, now what else can I obsess about?  😉

    Outside My Window ~ 10.04.09

Outside My Window…is a beautiful morning with blue skies and no clouds in sight.  The temps now are at about 68F at 9:45 a.m.  When I walked out the door this morning at 6:15, it was around 61F and dark.  I was off to Buckroe Beach this morning to renew my spirit and take some sunrise photos.  When I arrived, it was at that moment in the morning when it is neither dark nor light…..that morning twilight period.  Beautiful.  In front of me, a sunrise waiting to happen, at my back was a beautiful full moon that had recently risen over the horizon.  There were not many people around….a few…

    Eureka!

I have discovered my nemisis and it has been defeated!  My nemisis….the thing that has been making me crazy with my website is nothing but  a random setting on a computer.  For months I have been wringing my hands wondering what in the world I did (or didn’t do) to my web site to make it look like this…….. I have been working with this program for over two years and never had these issues until recently.  I have been questioning myself, and our departmental System Administrator (by the way Amy ~ thank you for allowing me to pick your “fully loaded html and other web goodies” brain), about what could cause…

    Outside My Window ~ 9.27.09

Outside My Window…are the remnants of a morning shower.  I woke up to rain, which allowed me to roll over and sleep a bit longer.  It is 72F at 10:30 this morning.  I believe we are finished with the rain showers and will spend the rest of the day under cloudy skies.  Temperatures have been unseasonably cool the last few days, but we will get up to the 80’s today and tomorrow.  Temps will then drop back down to the low 70’s for the remainder of the week with sunshine.  If all goes as forecasted, we should have a very nice week.  I have noticed some of the trees are…

    Where are the details people!

As many of you know, I work for the College of William and Mary.  We received a memo from our department head that said…… Due to recent events, we have discovered that not everyone may realize what constitutes violence at work.  With that in mind, everyone will be required to attend a mandatory meeting on work place violence. The memo then went on to detail times on a specific day that we could chose to attend.  But wait…..what is this “Due to recent events”?  What events?  Why didn’t I know about these events?  Granted I’m a ‘bean counter’ and work in an office so I don’t get out and about like most…

    Forecast: Rain

Rain.  That is our forecast for the entire weekend.  Morning showers….afternoon rain…chance of thunderstorms.  In other words, rain.  That means the drive home….in the rain.  Sometimes that isn’t so bad, but then there are those who cannot drive unless the sun is shining, the pavement is perfectly dry and the stars, sun and moon are aligned just so.  If those individuals choose to drive this afternoon, it could mean I’m stuck in traffic on a Friday afternoon again….and unlike a sunny day when you are stuck in traffic, a rainy day doesn’t offer too many photo ops.  But sometimes they do…….  I wasn’t stuck in traffic when I took this one…..I…

    A Distraction

“I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow.” Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With The Wind I feel like Scarlett O”Hara right now……..I don’t want to think about computer issues and the fact that the web site is not cooperating at all.  So I will think about it tomorrow……or maybe even this weekend.  I have decided a distraction is in order…….and I have selected my place of employment as the distractor.  You see, I work at a very old place……so old in fact that many of our founding fathers attended school here.  Yup, we are downright ancient ~ and I have…

    It Didn’t Happen

I was working on publishing the website last night.  Generally I don’t have any issues with the program I am using.  Generally.  It coughed…..it sputtered….it flickered….and it didn’t come together. Unfortunately, my web site is not back up. I’m still scratching my head on this one.   :

    Outside My Window ~ 9.20.09

Outside My Window…is a beautiful almost fall morning.  We are at 65F with 73% humidity, sunny with blue skies.  The forecast is for a high of 78F with patchy clouds.  Beautiful.  The dogwood tree leaves are beginning to turn…..they are generally the first to turn around here.  I have noticed quite a few berries on mine this year.  It appears that when I get a lot of berries in the fall, I get more blooms the following spring.  I am thinking…about how quickly summer seemed to fly by.  It doesn’t seem like that long ago I was stressing over Alanna’s prom dress and graduation.  Now school has started again and…
